Samsung’s next midrange phone is beginning to take shape in public test listings, and the early signs point to a device built around newer software and a more capable chipset. The Galaxy M47 has now surfaced on Geekbench with Android 16, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, and 8GB of RAM, giving a clearer picture of where Samsung is heading with the lineup.
The benchmark appearance does more than confirm a name. It suggests the device has already reached an advanced stage of development, with key hardware and software details visible before any official announcement.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 sits at the center
The Geekbench entry lists the Galaxy M47 under model number SM-M476B. It also indicates that Samsung is preparing Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 as the main processor for the phone.
That chipset uses an octa-core CPU configuration. Four performance cores run at up to 2.40GHz, while four efficiency cores are clocked at 1.80GHz.
For graphics, the device uses Adreno 710. Together, those components position the Galaxy M47 as a midrange phone aimed at more demanding everyday use.
Android 16 arrives from the start
Another detail that stands out is the operating system. The Galaxy M47 is shown running Android 16 out of the box, which means users would not need to wait for a post-launch software update to get that version.
This also indicates that Samsung is already preparing parts of its midrange portfolio for the next generation of Android. It fits the company’s broader approach to software support across the Galaxy family.
8GB RAM and an early benchmark result
Geekbench also reveals 8GB of RAM on the Galaxy M47. That amount is relatively generous for the midrange segment and should help with multitasking and app switching.
In the OpenCL test, the phone recorded a score of 2,256 points. The number is only an early indicator, but it offers a first look at the graphics capability Samsung is testing.
Signs point to a device nearing launch readiness
The Galaxy M47 has appeared in more than one place, which adds weight to the ongoing development story. It was previously mentioned in Samsung internal testing in India and Nepal, and the model name also showed up in the IMEI database.
When a phone starts appearing across multiple platforms like this, it usually means the project is moving closer to the final stages before launch. Samsung has not confirmed any specifications or a release schedule yet, but the trail of listings makes the device increasingly hard to ignore.
What it may replace
The Galaxy M47 is expected to follow the Galaxy M44, which arrived at the end of 2023. That model came with a 6.58-inch full-HD+ LCD display, a 50MP main camera, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.
Against that baseline, the Galaxy M47 is shaping up as a more meaningful upgrade in software and performance. There is also room for Samsung to improve display quality and power efficiency in the newer model.
Some leaks have pointed to a Super AMOLED panel for the Galaxy M47. If that happens, the visual experience would improve over the LCD screen used by its predecessor.
