MSI has added another display aimed squarely at competitive players with the launch of the MAG 276QP42 in China. The 27-inch QHD monitor pushes its refresh rate to an overclocked 425Hz, a specification that places speed ahead of almost everything else in its class.
That positioning is backed by a launch price of 2,199 yuan, or around US$322, with early sales starting through JD.com. MSI is clearly targeting users who want a fast 2K screen without giving up the features expected from a modern gaming monitor.
Built for speed first
The MAG 276QP42 uses a 27-inch Fast IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. MSI pairs that panel with a 0.5ms gray-to-gray response time, which is meant to keep motion clarity intact during fast gameplay.
Adaptive-Sync support is also included to help maintain smooth visuals. Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync compatibility are both available as well, reducing the chance of screen tearing and stuttering in supported setups.
Color performance is still part of the package
Even with the emphasis on raw speed, MSI has not stripped away visual quality. The panel is said to cover 98.1 percent of DCI-P3, 94.3 percent of Adobe RGB, and 127.5 percent of sRGB.
It uses an 8-bit + FRC configuration to deliver output equivalent to 10-bit color. Brightness reaches 400 nits in SDR mode, and the monitor carries a VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification.
Features aimed at competitive play
MSI has also added several tools that cater to esports-minded users. AI Vision is included to improve visibility in dark areas without making bright sections look excessive.
A smart crosshair feature changes the reticle color automatically based on the game background. The monitor also offers a virtual screen size option that reduces the display to 24.5 inches, along with built-in zoom and motion blur reduction.
Those additions are designed to help players keep their focus and track fast-moving objects more easily. In competitive environments, that kind of support can matter as much as the refresh rate itself.
Designed for longer sessions
For extended use, MSI equips the monitor with a matte anti-glare coating, DC dimming, and TÜV Rheinland-certified low blue light support. The combination is intended to make long gaming sessions more comfortable on the eyes.
The stand supports height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments. Users can also mount the display on a monitor arm thanks to VESA 100 x 100 mm compatibility.
Connectivity for multiple devices
On the rear I/O side, the MAG 276QP42 offers two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4a, and a 3.5mm audio jack. MSI also includes HDMI CEC support, along with picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes for multi-device use.
That set of connections makes the monitor more flexible than a single-purpose esports screen. It can serve as a fast gaming display while still handling mixed-device setups with relative ease.
With its 425Hz overclocked refresh rate, 0.5ms response time, and DisplayHDR 400 certification, the MAG 276QP42 lands as a focused option for gamers who value speed, clear motion, and practical feature support in one 27-inch QHD panel.
