Casio’s Ultra-Luxury Frogman Combines 800-Unit Rarity With True Dive-Grade Engineering

Casio has introduced a G-Shock that is as much a collector’s item as it is a dive watch. The G-Shock Frogman MRG-BF1000EB-1AJR carries a price tag of Rp 135 juta and is limited to around 800 units worldwide, placing it firmly in the realm of rare premium releases.

The model was created to mark 30 years of the MR-G premium line. That anniversary position explains why Casio packed it with special materials, hand-finished details, and Frogman-specific diving features rather than treating it as a standard luxury edition.

Premium materials with a handcrafted touch

One of the defining elements is the bezel, which uses Cobarion, a cobalt-chrome-based material that Casio says is four times harder than pure titanium. The choice pushes the watch into the highest tier of the G-Shock family and reinforces its premium positioning.

The bezel is also manually cut, with the work handled by Japanese gemstone artisan Kazuhito Komatsu. After shaping, Casio applies a blue arc ion plating finish that gives the surface a reflective blue tone inspired by the “brinicle,” an underwater ice formation found in polar regions.

The front of the case adds another refined detail. Two screws are decorated with synthetic blue sapphires cut with 57 facets, a level of finishing that is rarely associated with a rugged dive-oriented watch.

Still a tool watch at its core

Despite the luxury treatment, the MRG-BF1000EB-1AJR keeps the functional identity of the Frogman line. It carries ISO water resistance to 200 meters and uses a Clad Guard structure for added protection.

Casio also placed fluoro rubber cushioning around the crown and buttons to help shield the internal module from impact. The back of the watch uses a screw-lock system, and Casio added a blue vapor-deposited sapphire crystal along with the Frogman character engraving there.

Analog display with dive-focused functions

The watch uses an analog layout, but the movement includes three independent dual-coil motors to drive the hands. That setup supports its diving functions, including a mode where the hour and minute hands stack together to serve as a dive-time indicator for easier underwater reading.

Casio also equipped the watch with Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6, and Bluetooth connectivity. When linked to the Casio Watches smartphone app, the watch can set the time automatically, log dive data, and display tide graphs for around 3,300 locations worldwide.

Two straps and a special presentation box

Casio ships the watch with two strap options. One is a white fluoro rubber strap for diving use, while the other is a rigid titanium bracelet.

Both can be swapped quickly thanks to the quick-release mechanism on the lugs, giving the watch more flexibility without reducing its exclusive feel. Casio also includes a special box made in collaboration with Japanese luggage maker Proteca, further emphasizing that this release is meant to be collected, not just worn.

The G-Shock Frogman MRG-BF1000EB-1AJR is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in June 2026. With a price of 1.21 million yen and production capped at about 800 units, it stands out as one of Casio’s most exclusive G-Shock releases to date.
