Xiaomi’s next T-series phone is shaping up as a spec-heavy return to India, with the most talked-about detail being the leaked Rs 65,999 starting price for the Xiaomi 17T. That figure immediately places the device in premium territory and frames the handset as one of the more ambitious entries in its class.
The timing also matters. Xiaomi 17T is expected to arrive in India on 4 June, and it will mark the comeback of the T series after a long gap. The last model sold in the market was the Xiaomi 11T Pro in 2022, so the new launch is drawing attention not just for its hardware, but also for what it signals about Xiaomi’s India strategy.
Two memory options, one premium position
Leaker Abhishek Yadav says the Xiaomi 17T will come in two configurations: 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB. Only the base model price has surfaced so far, while the cost of the larger storage variant remains undisclosed.
Both versions are said to carry 12GB of RAM, which suggests Xiaomi is keeping performance at the center of the lineup from the start. That approach fits the T-series image, which has traditionally focused on strong hardware rather than restrained specs.
Display and audio tuned for media use
On the front, the Xiaomi 17T is tipped to feature a 6.59-inch LTPS 1.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is also said to reach 3,500 nits of peak brightness and 2,000 nits of HBM brightness.
Xiaomi is reportedly pairing that screen with Dolby Vision support, while the audio setup may include dual stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos. Together, those details point to a device that is being positioned strongly for streaming, video, and everyday media consumption.
Dimensity 8500 Ultra powers the core experience
Performance is expected to be handled by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra. The phone is also said to use LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, a combination that should support quick app loading and responsive multitasking.
That hardware mix also makes the Xiaomi 17T relevant for users who care about gaming or heavier productivity tasks. The overall package suggests Xiaomi wants the phone to feel fast from the first configuration onward, not only in its top-end variant.
Leica branding and 120x AI zoom steal the spotlight
The camera setup is where the Xiaomi 17T appears most aggressive. The rear system is tipped to include a 50MP Leica Light Fusion 800 main sensor, alongside a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
The telephoto lens is also said to support up to 120x AI zoom, which makes it one of the headline features in the leak. For wider shots, Xiaomi is reportedly adding a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view.
The selfie camera is said to be a 32MP unit, and video recording support looks equally detailed. The rear cameras are expected to record 4K at 60fps, while the front camera may support 4K at 30fps.
Battery, charging, and durability round out the package
Power concerns appear to be addressed with a 6,500mAh battery. Charging support is said to include 67W wired charging, plus 22.5W reverse wired charging for topping up other devices through a cable.
The Xiaomi 17T is also tipped to come with an IP68 rating, an in-display fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and Wi-Fi 7. Those additions suggest Xiaomi is aiming for a well-rounded flagship-style feature set rather than focusing on camera hardware alone.
If the leaked details hold through launch, the Xiaomi 17T will arrive in India with a strong mix of premium pricing, Leica-branded imaging, and unusually high zoom ambition.
