Apple’s first foldable iPhone is starting to look less like a distant concept and more like a product heading toward its final form. The device, widely referred to as iPhone Ultra, is now being described with enough detail that its design language, hardware approach, and premium pricing are becoming difficult to ignore.
One of the clearest signs comes from a protective case leak that has circulated online. The accessory was first spotted on iFunSmart, and its appearance is being interpreted as evidence that the phone’s dimensions and layout are already far enough along to support accessory production.
A foldable that looks closer to a compact tablet
What separates this device from many other book-style foldables is its screen direction. When unfolded, the display is said to be wider than expected, giving it a feel closer to an iPad Mini than to a typical folding phone.
That approach suggests Apple is aiming for more than just a flexible handset. The wider format should make the device more comfortable for video, streaming, and gaming, while also pushing it toward a hybrid use case between phone and tablet.
The display setup is also rumored to include two OLED panels. The outer screen is said to measure 5.5 inches, while the inner panel stretches to 7.8 inches.
Thin body, revised hardware choices
Leaksters have also pointed to a very slim body. The phone is reportedly 9.5 millimeters thick when folded and just 4.5 millimeters when opened fully.
Apple is also said to be working on an advanced hinge designed to reduce the crease as much as possible. The fold line is estimated at around 0.5 millimeters, which would be a major talking point in the premium foldable segment.
The back design is described as minimal as well. The camera module is said to be slim, and MagSafe support is also part of the reported package.
Touch ID returns as Face ID is left out
Another notable rumor is the absence of Face ID. In its place, Apple is said to bring back Touch ID, placed on the side button.
That choice would fit the constraints of a foldable design, where internal space is at a premium. It would also mark a meaningful shift for an iPhone line that has relied heavily on Face ID in recent years.
Camera hardware appears to stay relatively simple. The foldable is said to carry two rear cameras, made up of a 48 MP main camera and a 48 MP ultrawide camera, with no telephoto lens included.
For selfies, Apple is reportedly placing one camera on the outer display. The inner screen is also said to use an under-display camera so the main panel can remain cleaner visually.
Performance, battery, and premium positioning
Under the hood, the device is rumored to use the A20 Pro chip paired with 12 GB of RAM. A separate C2 chip is also mentioned, with a focus on improving energy efficiency.
Battery capacity is another area drawing attention. The phone is said to come with a 5,800 mAh battery, which would make it the largest battery ever reported for an iPhone.
Other reported features include 5G support and satellite connectivity. Together, those details frame the device as a very high-end model rather than a simple first experiment in foldable hardware.
Price is expected to reflect that positioning. The iPhone Ultra is rumored to cost between 2,000 and 2,500 Euro, or around Rp 41 million to Rp 50 million.
That pricing level places it firmly in super-premium territory, and it also aligns with reports that production has been slowed by the complexity of the build. The device is now said to be in production, but all of the design, hardware, and pricing details remain unconfirmed by Apple.
