Galaxy A16 Joins Samsung’s Fast-Moving One UI 8.5 Rollout as S25 Leads the Pack

Samsung has widened the rollout of One UI 8.5 at a pace that puts a broad slice of the Galaxy lineup in line for the update. From premium flagships to entry-level models, the stable release is now reaching devices such as the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy A16 5G.

The update is based on Android 16 QPR2 and arrived after nearly five months of beta testing. Samsung began the global rollout on 11 May 2026, following an earlier debut in South Korea on 6 May.

A fast rollout across multiple Galaxy segments

The first wave focused on Samsung’s top-tier devices, with models such as the Galaxy S25, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 getting priority. From there, the distribution quickly expanded into the Galaxy A and Galaxy M lines, making this release feel more aggressive than earlier half-step One UI updates.

Galaxy S25 was the first device to receive the stable One UI 8.5 update. Galaxy S25 Edge followed soon after, even though it had not been part of the beta program.

More models joined within days

Samsung then moved quickly to other mid-range devices. Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36 were among the next models to appear on the update list.

In the past few days, the rollout has extended further to Galaxy A35, Galaxy A55, Galaxy M56, and Galaxy A16 5G. That expansion has helped One UI 8.5 reach a much wider audience in a short period of time.

The devices already listed

The current wave covers a large number of Galaxy models across phones, foldables, tablets, and rugged devices. In the Galaxy S series, the update has reached Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge, S25 FE, Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra, and S23 FE.

Samsung has also started distribution for foldables including Galaxy Z TriFold, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, Galaxy Z Fold SE, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5. On the tablet side, the list includes Galaxy Tab S11, Tab S11 Ultra, Tab S10+, Tab S10 Ultra, Tab S10 Lite, Tab S10 FE, Tab S10 FE+, Tab S9, Tab S9+, Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S9 FE, Tab S9 FE+, Galaxy Tab A11+, and Galaxy Tab Active 5.

Samsung has also included rugged models in the rollout. Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and Galaxy XCover 5 Pro are both recorded as receiving the stable update.

What One UI 8.5 is bringing

Samsung says One UI 8.5 focuses on communication, creativity, security, and smoother integration across Galaxy devices. It also expands Galaxy AI features to more compatible devices.

Among the highlighted additions are improved Quick Share with cross-platform sharing support, AI tools for photo editing, better performance and battery efficiency, stronger device security, and a more seamless Galaxy ecosystem experience. Feature availability is not identical across all devices, however, and Samsung notes that the final experience can vary by model and region.

More devices are still expected

Samsung has not yet published a final eligibility list for One UI 8.5. The company has only confirmed that the update will continue reaching more Galaxy phones and tablets in the coming weeks.

That leaves room for additional models to be added gradually. With its faster-than-usual distribution pattern, One UI 8.5 is already shaping up to be one of Samsung’s widest-reaching updates in a short span of time.
