For users who still rely on feature phones for everyday calls, Itel is trying to make the category feel more practical rather than merely cheaper. The new Aqua combines rugged protection with AI Noise Cancellation, two features that are rarely paired in this segment.
That positioning matters in markets where simple phones still have room to grow, especially India. Itel introduced Aqua shortly after its partnership with Jio to offer 4G feature phone bundles starting at Rs 123.
Built for harsher environments
Aqua is designed to handle conditions that would challenge a typical feature phone. Itel says the device can survive up to 30 minutes in water and can also withstand muddy environments.
The protection is backed by an IP67 rating, which gives the phone a clear advantage for users in wet, dusty, or work-heavy settings. Itel is placing the device not just as a basic daily handset, but as a tool for outdoor use, demanding job sites, and regions with difficult weather.
Noise reduction for clearer calls
The most distinctive feature on Aqua is its AI Noise Cancellation system. Itel says the technology is built to filter out background noise from construction sites, markets, factories, and crowded roads.
That focus makes sense for a feature phone, where voice calling remains the core use case. With noise reduction in place, both sides of a call are expected to hear each other more clearly even in busy surroundings.
Simple hardware, but still useful
Beyond the rugged casing and call improvements, Aqua keeps the familiar basics of a feature phone. It comes with a 2.4-inch display and a VGA camera.
The phone also supports expandable storage of up to 32GB. Itel says the device can handle up to 1,000 phonebook entries and messages, and it includes contact icons as well.
Aqua supports 10 languages and includes automatic call recording. Those additions keep the device practical for users who want straightforward communication without depending on extra apps.
Battery and charging details
The handset is powered by a 1,200mAh battery. It also uses a USB-C port for charging, which stands out because not every feature phone in this category offers that connector.
That combination of a modest battery and modern charging port fits the overall approach of the device. It keeps the phone simple while adding small conveniences that improve day-to-day use.
Price and availability in India
Itel is selling Aqua in India at Rs 1,799. The device is available through partner retail stores across the country, which suggests a broad mass-market push.
The phone comes in Blue, Red, and Black. That retail strategy aligns with the continued demand for feature phones in smaller cities, semi-urban areas, and among users who want a secondary device.
A clearer strategy for feature phones
Aqua shows how Itel is trying to add more value to a segment that often competes on price alone. Instead of relying only on affordability, the company is highlighting durability and call quality as the main reasons to choose this model.
Arijeet Talapatra, CEO of itel India, said innovation is the engine that keeps technology relevant. He added that Aqua is part of the company’s effort to strengthen its position as an innovative technology brand in India.
Talapatra also described Aqua as having an India-first design aimed at the country’s varied climate. It is meant for humid and rainy coastal areas as well as dry, dusty desert regions.
