Phishing Threats Are Closing In, Indodax Urges Users to Verify Before They Click

Phishing attacks are becoming harder to spot because they now target user behavior as much as technical systems. That shift has pushed Indodax to place digital security education at the center of its protection strategy for user accounts and data.

The company says the biggest risk often appears when users trust the wrong link, the wrong number, or the wrong website without checking whether the channel is official. In an environment where cyber threats continue to rise sharply in Indonesia, that habit can be enough to expose personal information and account access.

User caution has become the first line of defense

Indodax CEO William Sutanto said attackers are no longer relying only on attempts to break into technology systems. Instead, many now look for user carelessness to gain access to accounts and private information.

He also warned against assuming that the top result in a search engine is automatically official or safe. That makes verification an essential habit before opening any link or contacting any service.

Three basic checks Indodax wants users to follow

To reduce phishing risk, Indodax is promoting three simple practices that users can apply right away. First, check the website domain and make sure it comes from an official channel.

Second, do not immediately trust phone numbers or links that appear in search results without extra verification. Third, use the official help channels available in the app or on the official website whenever account-related information is needed.

These steps are part of an anti-phishing campaign that encourages people to be more critical before accessing digital services or reaching customer support. The goal is to make verification a routine part of online behavior, not an afterthought.

A wider cybercrime problem is getting more expensive

The warning comes as digital fraud losses continue to grow. The Financial Services Authority and the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre said total losses from financial transaction scams reached Rp9.1 trillion from 2024 to January 2026.

The threat is also significant in the Web3 industry. Tiger Research reported that social engineering accounted for 74.7% of total losses from cybercrime in the first quarter of 2026.

Those figures show that psychological manipulation is now one of the most dominant attack paths. For digital services, that means security education carries weight equal to technical safeguards.

Official support channels remain available around the clock

Indodax has also strengthened its official help services, which are available 24 hours a day. Users can reach them through email, Live Chat Help Center, the call center at (021) 5065 8888, the company’s official social media accounts, and Indodax Prioritas at (021) 5036 8888.

The availability of these channels matters because scammers often take advantage of moments when users are panicked or in a hurry. In that situation, taking a few seconds to verify a website, a contact number, or a source of information can make a major difference in keeping an account safe.
