With 6,500mAh Power and IP69K Protection, Vivo Y31s 5G Raises the Mid-Range Bar

Vivo’s new Y31s 5G is trying to stand out in Malaysia’s mid-range market by combining endurance, durability, and a few spec points that are not often seen together at this level. The phone is built around a 6,500mAh BlueVolt battery, IP68 + IP69 + IP69K+ protection, and a 32MP selfie camera, giving it a very specific appeal for users who value practicality.

That positioning is reinforced by the rest of the package. Vivo pairs the device with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, a 6.74-inch full-HD display, and 5G support, while keeping the configuration straightforward with only one official memory option in Malaysia.

Battery and charging first

The headline feature is clearly the battery. Vivo uses a 6,500mAh BlueVolt cell, and it is backed by 44W FlashCharge for faster top-ups.

That combination makes the phone relevant for people who want longer daily use for communication, entertainment, and movement between tasks. In the mid-range segment, battery life often becomes a deciding factor when buyers compare one model against another.

A display made for outdoor use

On the front, the Y31s 5G carries a 6.74-inch full-HD screen with a peak brightness of up to 1,050 nits. Vivo markets the panel as a Sunlight Display, which points directly to better visibility when used outdoors.

The phone also supports 5G, NFC, and USB Type-C. Vivo further includes call recording and audio recording functions, although Hi-Fi audio is not part of this model.

Hardware and memory setup

Performance comes from Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, and Vivo matches it with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. In Malaysia, that is the only official configuration being sold.

The software side runs OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. The device also supports dual-SIM use with a nano + nano slot arrangement.

Cameras focus on the front

Vivo gives extra attention to the selfie camera, which comes in at 32MP. That is one of the more prominent figures in this class and makes the front camera a key selling point.

The rear setup is simpler, with a 50MP main camera paired with a 2MP bokeh sensor. This approach keeps the camera system focused on everyday photos and basic portrait use rather than a more complex multi-camera arrangement.

Built for tougher conditions

Durability is another major talking point for the Y31s 5G. The phone carries IP68, IP69, and IP69K+ ratings for dust and water resistance, which is unusual for a mid-range device.

That added protection gives the phone a different kind of value in a segment that often emphasizes design or camera features more heavily. Even with the large battery and reinforced body, the weight is listed at around 209 grams.

Price and availability

In Malaysia, the Vivo Y31s 5G is priced at RM 1,499. It is already available through Vivo Malaysia’s official website and partner retail channels.

Vivo offers the phone in Black and Purple. With a single 8GB/256GB variant and a clear mix of battery life, durability, and display brightness, the Y31s 5G enters the market with a very direct message for mid-range buyers.
