OnePlus 15 is now being reported with support for Apple’s AirDrop through Google’s Quick Share platform, giving Android users a more direct way to send files to Apple devices. The development matters because it removes one of the most persistent barriers between the two ecosystems: simple file sharing without extra apps.
The update appears to be arriving through Quick Share rather than through a separate OnePlus software package. That means users may be able to rely on a broader platform update instead of waiting for a device-specific overhaul.
A Limited Rollout, Not a Broad One Yet
For now, OnePlus 15 is believed to be the only OnePlus phone included in the rollout. Older models such as OnePlus 13 have not been listed among the supported devices, and the same limited pattern appears to apply to the company’s premium tablet lineup.
Android Authority reported seeing the compatibility on a OnePlus 15 unit, while a separate post on the OnePlus Community forum suggested other users had also started receiving the feature. The signs point to an early rollout that is beginning to surface on selected devices.
How the Transfer Works
To receive files on an Apple device, the recipient needs to temporarily enable AirDrop reception for everyone. Once that setting is active, compatible Android devices can send files directly to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac that supports the function.
The process is intended for everyday file types such as photos and documents, making it more practical for quick exchanges between devices. It also reduces the need to send files through messaging apps, email, or cloud services when both devices are nearby.
Part of a Wider Android Trend
This is not an isolated move. Google first introduced similar cross-platform capability on some Pixel devices before widening support to other Android brands.
The list of devices already mentioned in connection with the feature includes Pixel 9 series, Pixel 8a, Vivo X300 Ultra, and Oppo Find X9 family models. Oppo Find X8, from OnePlus’s sister brand, is also expected to support the function, showing that the rollout is spreading across several major Android makers.
Xiaomi has also announced AirDrop compatibility through HyperOS 3, adding more momentum to the shift toward easier cross-ecosystem sharing. For users who regularly move between Android phones and Apple hardware, the change could make a routine task feel far less complicated.
Quick Share reportedly needs only the latest version from Google Play Store for the feature to appear. No additional system update or special configuration has been described in the report, which could make adoption smoother for OnePlus 15 owners once the rollout reaches their device.
Even so, the feature is still emerging rather than widely available across the OnePlus lineup. For now, the clearest sign is that OnePlus 15 is becoming one of the Android phones helping to narrow the gap with Apple’s file-sharing ecosystem.
