Lenovo ThinkTab X11 Breaks the Tablet Formula, Removable Battery and Battery-Free Mode Stand Out

Lenovo has taken an unusual route in a market where many tablets now compete on thinness alone. The ThinkTab X11 stands out because it is built for durability, easier maintenance, and work-focused use rather than just a slim profile.

That positioning becomes even clearer through two features that are still rare in this category: a removable battery and a mode that lets the tablet run without a battery when connected to power. For users in the field, industrial setups, or business environments, those details may matter more than raw design trends.

Designed for practical work, not just portability

The ThinkTab X11 uses a 10.95-inch WQXGA display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Lenovo also gives it a 90Hz refresh rate and up to 600 nits of brightness, helping the screen remain usable in brighter environments.

Performance comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, paired with LPDDR5 RAM of up to 8GB and UFS 3.1 storage of up to 256GB. The tablet ships with Android 16 and is promised at least four years of regular security updates.

A battery that can be swapped without tools

The main talking point is the 10,200 mAh battery, which Lenovo designed to be removed and replaced without opening the body with a screwdriver. That approach makes servicing and battery replacement far more practical than on many conventional tablets.

Even more unusual is the battery-less operation mode. When the device is plugged into power, it can keep running without a battery installed, a useful option for kiosks or industrial systems that need continuous operation.

Lenovo is clearly treating maintainability as part of the product’s value, not as an afterthought. That makes the ThinkTab X11 different from most Android tablets aimed at mainstream consumers.

Built for harsher environments

Lenovo also backs up the tablet’s practical focus with rugged protection. The ThinkTab X11 carries an IP68 rating for protection against dust and water splashes.

With the optional rugged case, it also earns MIL-STD-810H certification. Together, those ratings suggest better resilience against shocks and tougher field conditions.

Ports and connectivity remain intact

Unlike many premium tablets that trim physical connections, Lenovo keeps several useful ports on board. The ThinkTab X11 includes two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports, and one of them supports display output to an external monitor.

It also keeps a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD slot, both of which remain useful for expansion and accessories. On the wireless side, the tablet supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, and NFC.

Lenovo also includes stereo speakers and dual microphones for media playback and video calls. Those additions make the device more complete for everyday productivity use.

Camera, stylus support, and pricing

For imaging and communication, the ThinkTab X11 offers a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and an 8-megapixel front camera for video calls. Lenovo also supports the Tab Pen XE stylus, which can be stored in a dedicated compartment inside the rugged case.

In the United States, the Wi-Fi model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at $499. The 5G version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is listed at $579.

Available in Eclipse Black, the ThinkTab X11 shows Lenovo is still willing to experiment with a tablet format that values serviceability, endurance, and deployment flexibility. That combination gives it a distinct position in a category that is often driven by slimmer designs and fewer ports.
