Huawei’s New Earbuds Split the Difference, One Prioritizes Premium Sound and the Other Battery Life

Huawei has expanded its wireless audio lineup in India with two new true wireless stereo models that target different buyers but share a surprisingly strong feature set. The FreeBuds 7i is the more premium option, while the FreeBuds SE 4 ANC is aimed at users who want core features at a lower price.

The pairing is notable because both models bring active noise cancellation, long battery life, and everyday usability features usually associated with higher-priced earphones. That makes the launch relevant for people looking for earbuds for music, calls, workouts, and even light gaming.

Two models, two price points

The FreeBuds 7i launches at Rs 8,799 as an introductory price, down from its MRP of Rs 13,999. The FreeBuds SE 4 ANC is priced at Rs 4,799, compared with an MRP of Rs 7,999.

Both models also carry an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance, which makes them more practical for daily use and exercise. Huawei is clearly using price and feature balance to separate the two products without making either feel stripped down.

FreeBuds 7i leans into the premium extras

The FreeBuds 7i is built around Intelligent Dynamic ANC 4.0, a system designed to adjust noise cancellation automatically depending on the surrounding environment. That gives it a more advanced positioning than the lower-priced model.

Huawei has paired it with 11mm quad-magnet drivers and spatial audio with head tracking. The combination is meant to deliver a more immersive listening experience for users who value richer sound and a wider sense of direction.

Call quality is also a key focus. The earbuds use a three-microphone setup with AI-powered noise reduction to help keep voices clear in busy places.

Additional features include gesture controls, dual-device connection, audio sharing, and Bluetooth 5.4. Huawei also says the FreeBuds 7i can deliver up to 35 hours of total playback with the charging case, while a 10-minute charge can provide up to four hours of listening time.

FreeBuds SE 4 ANC focuses on value and endurance

The FreeBuds SE 4 ANC is designed for buyers who want ANC without stretching into the higher price bracket. It supports multi-mode active noise cancellation of up to 24dB, making it a more affordable alternative with the main feature still intact.

Inside, Huawei uses 10mm dynamic drivers and Bluetooth 5.4. The earbuds also include low-latency gaming support and several EQ presets, which should help them appeal to users who switch between music, video, and casual gaming.

Huawei says the design is lightweight and shaped for long-wear comfort, based on extensive ear-form research. The bigger headline, however, is battery life: the FreeBuds SE 4 ANC is claimed to last up to 50 hours in total with the charging case.

Color choices reinforce the split

The FreeBuds 7i comes in Black, White, and Pink, giving it a slightly more expressive lineup. The FreeBuds SE 4 ANC is offered in Black and White only.

That difference matches the broader product strategy. The FreeBuds 7i pushes for a more feature-rich experience, while the FreeBuds SE 4 ANC emphasizes a lower entry price and longer battery endurance.

Seen together, the two launches show how features such as ANC and Bluetooth 5.4 are moving into more accessible categories. For Indian buyers, that means Huawei is offering a clearer choice between a more polished premium model and a value-focused option built around battery life and practical everyday use.
