GAC is making a stronger case for its long-term ambitions in Indonesia by expanding to 53 dealer networks across the country. The move suggests the Chinese EV brand is focused not only on sales growth, but also on building a more reliable ownership experience as its customer base continues to expand.
That strategy matters because GAC says it has already been used by more than 10,000 customers in Indonesia through mid-month. With that level of adoption, dealer coverage has become a key part of keeping service quality and customer experience consistent across different cities.
Dealer expansion is now part of the brand strategy
CEO GAC Indonesia Andry Ciu said the company sees each new customer as a new responsibility. He emphasized that the dealer network must keep growing so the promised service standards can be delivered consistently nationwide.
According to Andry, the expansion also reflects a commitment to strengthening public trust. As electric vehicles gain wider acceptance, GAC is treating distribution growth as both a business move and a response to rising market expectations.
Sales momentum is improving
GAC’s business performance in Indonesia has also been moving in a positive direction. Based on data from the Indonesia Automotive Industry Association, or GAIKINDO, wholesale sales reached 3,399 units in January-May 2026.
That volume represents about 0.9 percent of total national car sales. While the share remains modest, GAC was among the brands with the strongest year-on-year wholesale growth, posting an 84.2 percent increase over the same period.
| Key Indonesia Figures | Details |

Global performance is supporting the expansion
The Indonesian push is taking place alongside healthier global results for GAC. From January to May 2026, the company’s cumulative sales rose 3.8 percent to 628,200 units worldwide.
Its EV sub-brand Aion was one of the main growth drivers. Deliveries of Aion increased 62.3 percent to 144,100 units, highlighting the importance of electric vehicles in GAC’s wider business expansion.
Aion and Hyptec are the main products in Indonesia
In Indonesia, GAC operates through two EV sub-brands, Aion and Hyptec. Aion currently offers three models, while Hyptec has one model in the market.
The latest model launched by GAC in Indonesia, Aion UT, has emerged as a major sales contributor. The model accounts for around 40 percent of the brand’s sales and has helped strengthen its appeal in the local EV market.
With 53 dealer networks already operating, GAC is still planning additional expansion in several cities through the end of 2026. The company appears intent on keeping growth steady while making sure customers can reach service support more easily and more evenly across the country.
