iOS 27 Beta 2 Pushes Siri Closer to Daily Use, Wallet Gains a New Role

Apple has released iOS 27 Developer Beta 2 for iPhone, and the update makes the company’s direction clearer: deeper AI integration, a more capable Siri, and tighter links across the Apple ecosystem. For registered developers and beta testers, it is the next major step after the features first shown at WWDC 2026 in early June.

The new beta is not limited to stability fixes and bug patches. It also adds several functions that affect how users write, manage money, share messages, and access visual features powered by artificial intelligence.

Siri Moves Closer to Everyday Workflows

One of the most notable additions is the “Write with Siri” button, which now appears directly above the keyboard in apps such as Notes, Mail, and Messages. With a more accessible placement, users can use AI-assisted writing to create, edit, or refine text without opening extra menus.

The change makes Siri feel more practical for daily tasks. Previously, a similar function could only be used after the user selected specific text first.

Wallet Starts Looking Like a Personal Finance Hub

Apple is also preparing a new Insights feature in Wallet. The menu is already visible through the three-dot icon in the corner of the app, although it is not yet fully active for every beta user.

When it becomes fully available, the feature is expected to let users connect financial accounts and view spending summaries, recurring transactions, account balances, and other financial information in one place. That direction suggests Wallet is no longer being treated only as a digital wallet, but increasingly as a broader finance management center.

Feature Area What iOS 27 Beta 2 Adds Current Status
Siri Writing Tools “Write with Siri” above the keyboard in Notes, Mail, and Messages Available in beta
Wallet Insights Connection to financial accounts, spending summaries, recurring transactions, and balances Visible, but not fully active for all users
Visual Intelligence Highlight to Image Search for third-party image search Added in beta

More Ecosystem Convenience Across Devices

The iOS 27 Developer Beta 2 update also brings a new convenience for Apple ecosystem users through the Home app. From an iPhone, users can now update Apple TV software without turning on the streaming device manually.

Apple TV will appear in the device update section inside Home, alongside HomePod and other smart home devices that already support remote updates. The move shows Apple’s effort to reduce technical steps that previously had to be handled separately.

RCS, Photos, and Visual AI Get Support

On the messaging side, Apple has added inline reply support for RCS conversations. That makes it easier for iPhone users to respond to specific messages from Android users in a more organized way, bringing cross-platform chats closer to the structure of iMessage.

Visual Intelligence also receives a boost. Apple has added a new setting called Highlight to Image Search, which allows selected images to be sent to a third-party image search service to find similar content automatically.

Photos has also gained broader support for RAW image files in Apple Intelligence-based editing features. That gives users who edit professional-looking photos directly on iPhone more flexibility.

Small Changes That Still Matter in Daily Use

Beyond the headline features, Apple has included a number of smaller refinements that affect everyday use. These include highlighted hidden controls in the Camera app, better readability in Weather, live display support for HomeKit Secure Video notifications, the ability to delete multiple Siri conversations at once, and interface adjustments based on the Liquid Glass design introduced at WWDC 2026.

The update is large, too. In testing, iOS 27 Developer Beta 2 measured about 5.23GB on an iPhone 15 Pro running Developer Beta 1.

Apple says iOS 27 is compatible with every device that already supports iOS 26. That means iPhone 11 and newer models will be eligible when the final version arrives, while the public beta is expected to open in July 2026 before the stable release arrives with the next iPhone generation in the fall.
