Apple’s 2027 iPhone Plan Looks More Aggressive, Foldable Sequels and Air 2 Surface Early

Fresh leaks are starting to sketch Apple’s iPhone roadmap for 2027, and the picture is broader than a simple yearly refresh. The company is said to be preparing iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18, and iPhone 18e while also moving early on iPhone 19 Pro and a second-generation foldable.

That direction suggests Apple is not only planning new models, but also reshaping how its lineup is split between premium, regular, and foldable devices. The strategy could give the company more room to separate launch timing, features, and target buyers across the year.

Three Models, One Display Direction

According to the leak shared by Digital Chat Station, the 2027 lineup would center on three devices: iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18, and iPhone 18e. All three are said to use 1.5K OLED panels, signaling a common display direction across the range.

The iPhone Air 2 is reportedly getting a 6.55-inch screen with a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate. The standard iPhone 18 is said to come with a 6.3-inch display using the same 120Hz LTPO technology.

Where the Entry Model Sits

The iPhone 18e would be the smallest of the three at 6.12 inches, but it is expected to remain the most modest option. It is said to use an LTPS 60Hz panel, keeping it clearly below the Air 2 and iPhone 18 in display hardware.

That difference matters because it shows how Apple may continue to push the regular and premium models further ahead in screen quality. The 18e would still fit the budget-friendly role within the lineup.

Apple May Keep Staggered Launches

The leak also lines up with earlier rumors that Apple will keep splitting iPhone launches across different periods. In that plan, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the first iPhone Fold are expected to arrive in autumn 2026.

The iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 would then likely follow at the beginning of 2027. A staggered schedule would help Apple keep its premium models in the spotlight while extending the sales cycle for the rest of the range.

iPhone 19 Pro Has Already Entered Early Work

One of the more notable details is that Apple is reportedly already working on early development of the iPhone 19 Pro. Digital Chat Station says the company has reached early testing and mold production for the device.

That is not unusual for Apple, which typically starts new hardware work well ahead of launch. Still, the name itself is not locked in, and the leaker only referred to it as the next iPhone generation.

Model Reported Display Reported Panel / Refresh Rate
iPhone Air 2 6.55 inches 1.5K OLED, 120Hz LTPO
iPhone 18 6.3 inches 1.5K OLED, 120Hz LTPO
iPhone 18e 6.12 inches 1.5K OLED, LTPS 60Hz

Second-Generation Foldable Joins the Pipeline

Apple’s foldable push is also said to continue with a second-generation device, referred to in the leak as iPhone Ultra 2. Its display is reportedly already in testing and prototype production.

Earlier chatter suggests the newer model may use a larger screen area than the first version. If accurate, that would point to Apple trying to improve everyday usability while strengthening its position in the premium foldable segment.

Camera Upgrades Stay Focused on the Pro Tier

Separate rumors about the iPhone 18 Pro indicate Apple is still leaning hard into camera differentiation. The model is said to feature variable aperture, allowing the lens opening to adjust depending on lighting conditions.

Apple is also reportedly improving the camera sensor quality to boost photo and video output. That would keep the Pro line positioned as the most advanced choice for users who care most about imaging performance.

Put together, the leak suggests Apple’s 2027 roadmap may be more layered than usual, with thinner designs, stronger Pro camera hardware, and a continued move into foldables. If these details hold, the company could enter 2027 with one of its most varied iPhone lineups yet.
