Samsung may be preparing a broader price increase across its next wave of foldables and wearables, and the timing could make some buyers hesitate. New leaks suggest the company is lining up higher starting prices not just for its folding phones, but also for the Galaxy Watch line.
The most expensive moves appear to be reserved for the top-end foldable. According to WinFuture, as cited by Android Headlines, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Ultra” could see a €100 increase on the 256GB version and a much steeper €280 jump on the 1TB model.
Fold 8 “Ultra” appears to face the sharpest increase
If the leak proves accurate, the 1TB Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Ultra” would land at around €2,799, or about $3,201 in rough dollar terms. The 256GB version is said to rise by €100 compared with the previous price level.
Another model described as the “Wide” Fold 8 is also said to be in development, with a 256GB version reportedly priced at €1,999, or about $2,286. That figure suggests Samsung may be testing a different pricing strategy for a wider foldable design.
The Flip line and Galaxy Watch models are not spared
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is also expected to start €100 higher, based on the same leak. That would place Samsung’s clamshell-style foldable among the devices affected by the company’s rumored summer pricing shift.
Wearables may also become more expensive. The Galaxy Watch 9 Bluetooth 40mm model is said to increase by €40, while the 44mm version could rise by €30.
For the premium tier, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is reportedly set for a €50 increase. If those figures hold, Samsung would be extending the price changes beyond phones and into a wider part of its ecosystem.
Design details suggest a different kind of Fold
Price is only part of the story. Tipster Tarun Vats has also shared details about the wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 variant, saying it may feature a 5.5-inch Quad HD Plus cover display with a 16:10 aspect ratio.
Inside, the same device is said to use a 7.6-inch Quad HD Plus panel with a 4:3 ratio. The combination points to a form factor that focuses more heavily on width than Samsung’s usual Fold design.
That model is also rumored to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and pack a 4,800mAh battery. Samsung is additionally said to be changing the camera layout by removing one lens.
Camera changes could be a compromise
Earlier reports from May suggested the wider Fold could ship with only a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. If true, that would mean the telephoto lens may be left out of the setup.
Such a move could shape how buyers judge the device. A broader front display and new design may be attractive, but some users may see the reduced camera array as a trade-off compared with other Fold options.
Samsung has also begun teasing the new products after deleting all of its Instagram accounts, a move that has added to the speculation surrounding the next launch window. The company is expected to unveil the new lineup in July.
