Casio Edifice EFK-200 Brings Forged Carbon to a Smaller, More Wearable Format

Casio has widened the appeal of its Edifice line with the EFK-200, a new automatic series that feels more compact than the brand’s usual sporty watches. The collection brings forged carbon into a premium watch range that now spans five models.

The standout model is the EFK-200XPB-1AJF, priced at around ¥74,800, or about Rp7,5 jutaan ($460). It uses forged carbon for both the case and dial, creating a marbled pattern that is different on every piece while keeping the watch light and visually distinctive.

Forged carbon and the lighter side of Edifice

Forged carbon combines carbon fiber and resin, then is pressed under high heat and pressure. The result is a material that looks technical and robust while helping the watch stay remarkably light at just 81 grams.

Casio pairs that construction with a black ion-plated stainless steel bezel, a sporty urethane strap, and a butterfly clasp with a push mechanism. The overall effect is more restrained and mechanical than many traditional Edifice designs.

Another model, the EFK-200CD-1AJF, sits lower in the lineup at around ¥55.000, or Rp5,5 jutaan ($338). This version keeps the forged carbon dial but switches to a standard stainless steel case and matching bracelet, which raises the weight to 153 grams.

Three models use electroformed dials

The remaining three watches replace carbon styling with electroformed dials made through a multilayer lacquer process. That method produces a deeper texture and a stronger gradient effect when light hits the dial.

Both the EFK-200D-2AJF and EFK-200D-4AJF use standard stainless steel cases and bracelets, and each is priced at ¥55.000, or $338. The EFK-200DG-5AJF adds a gold ion-plated case and bracelet, pushing the price to ¥66.000, or about Rp6,6 jutaan ($406).

Japanese automatic movement inside a compact case

All Edifice EFK-200 models use a Japanese automatic movement and feature a transparent exhibition case back secured with screws. Casio says the movement has 21 jewels, runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and offers 42 hours of power reserve.

The watch also includes hacking seconds, a date window, and average daily accuracy of -20 to +40 seconds. Those specifications place the series firmly in the mechanical watch category rather than a quartz-driven sports watch.

Casio has also kept the case size relatively small by Edifice standards. The case measures 38 mm across, with a 43.6 mm lug-to-lug length and 11.9 mm thickness, while the carbon-bodied variant measures 43.8 mm lug-to-lug.

That sizing makes the EFK-200 easier to wear on a wider range of wrists, including both men and women. Sapphire crystal with scratch resistance and 100 meters of water resistance are included as well, giving the series the practical protection expected from an everyday watch.

The EFK-200 is currently available for pre-order exclusively in Japan. Retail launch is scheduled for July.
