Samsung’s next foldable lineup is drawing attention for a pricing pattern that looks almost upside down. The base Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to arrive with a wider new screen design, while the “Ultra” version could cost more despite carrying fewer visible changes.
According to a WinFuture report cited by Liputan6, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is listed at € 1,999, or roughly Rp 41.1 million based on the exchange rate used in the report. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Ultra” is expected to reach € 2,199, which is € 100 higher than the previous generation.
Two models, different priorities
The contrast between the two variants is the main reason the leaks have attracted attention. The regular model is described as the one bringing the more noticeable design update, while the Ultra version is framed as a refinement-focused model rather than a major redesign.
That makes the pricing structure feel unusual. In this case, the model with the fresh look is not the most expensive one, while the model with fewer exterior changes sits at the top of the range.
| Variant | Price | Main Characteristic | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Z Fold 8 | € 1,999 | New wider screen design | Launch price around Rp 41.1 million |
| Galaxy Z Fold 8 “Ultra” | € 2,199 | Limited physical and aesthetic changes, triple rear cameras | € 100 increase from the previous generation |
What the Ultra model still appears to offer
Even with minimal visible updates, the Ultra is said to retain some hardware advantages. Those include a triple rear camera setup and a larger battery capacity, which may help explain why it is positioned as the premium option.
Still, the pricing gap has raised questions about how Samsung is defining value across the foldable range. The standard model appears to carry the more obvious design shift, while the Ultra leans on internal upgrades rather than a dramatic exterior change.
Samsung has not detailed the lineup publicly in the leaked information, but the reported prices are already enough to make the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series a talking point. The division between a more visibly refreshed base model and a more expensive Ultra version gives the family an unusually layered identity before launch.
