Xiaomi may be preparing a major shift for its next foldable phone, with reports pointing to a wider design than its previous foldable lineup. The device has surfaced in China’s MIIT database and is rumored to combine a 200 MP main camera with a 6,000 mAh battery.
The model number 2608BPX34C does not confirm the retail name, but it indicates that the product is moving through a key regulatory stage. Possible names mentioned in current reports include Xiaomi 17 Fold, Xiaomi Mix Fold 5, and Xiaomi Mix Fold 6.
A Wider Direction for Xiaomi’s Foldable Line
According to Gizmochina, citing XpertPick, the MIIT-listed model is associated with a Xiaomi foldable that could adopt a wider form factor. That design approach would set it apart from the established direction of the Mix Fold series.
Xiaomi has not disclosed the final branding, dimensions, or full specifications of the handset. As a result, the model’s connection to any of the proposed commercial names remains unconfirmed.

Rumored Hardware Includes Xring O3
The Xiaomi foldable is said to feature a 7.6-inch main folding display. It is also expected to use Xiaomi’s Xring O3 chipset and run HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.
A 200 MP primary camera is among the most notable rumored specifications. The phone is also expected to support wireless charging alongside its reported 6,000 mAh battery.
The “2608” prefix in the model number has led to speculation that the China launch could take place in August. There is currently no information on whether this foldable will be released in global markets.
Xiaomi Pad 9 Also Moves Through Certification
Xiaomi’s upcoming tablet has appeared separately in China’s 3C certification database under model number M656BA. The listing includes the MDY-17-EE power adapter, an existing Xiaomi charger that supports charging speeds of up to 45W.
The Xiaomi Pad 9 is expected to retain the premium tablet foundation of the Xiaomi Pad 8. Rumored specifications include an 11.2-inch 3K LCD display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset.
The most significant reported update is a 9,720 mAh battery, up from the 9,200 mAh capacity used by the Xiaomi Pad 8. The tablet is expected to run HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.
Xiaomi Pad 9 is expected to debut alongside the Xiaomi 18 series in China in September. It may subsequently reach other markets, including India, within the following months.
