Samsung is rumored to be preparing two sharply different book-style foldables for Galaxy Unpacked 2026. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra could pair a 200 MP main camera with a larger display, while the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 may adopt a wider, more compact form.
The contrast could give buyers a choice between a camera-focused premium model and a foldable designed around a mini-tablet-like shape. Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip8, extending the rumored lineup to three foldable phones.
Two Different Directions for the Fold Line
The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 is said to use a display ratio close to 4:3 when unfolded. Its shorter and wider layout would differ from the tall screens long associated with Samsung’s Fold series.
Rumors point to a 7.6-inch main display and a 5.5-inch cover screen for the Fold8. At about 199 grams, it could be positioned as the more compact option among Samsung’s book-style foldables.
The Fold8 Ultra is expected to retain a taller and slimmer body, with an 8-inch internal screen and a 6.5-inch cover display. Its Dynamic AMOLED 120Hz panel is rumored to reach brightness of up to 3,600 nits.

Ultra Model Could Raise the Camera Ceiling
The Fold8 Ultra is rumored to feature a 200 MP primary camera, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The standard Fold8, by comparison, is expected to carry 50 MP main and ultrawide cameras.
Both Fold8 cameras on the cover and internal displays are said to use 10 MP sensors. The Ultra’s higher-resolution main camera would therefore be its most significant hardware distinction.
Samsung may equip the Fold8 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, 16 GB of RAM, and storage options up to 1 TB. A 5,000 mAh battery with 45W fast charging is also rumored, with video playback claimed at up to 27 hours.
The standard Fold8 is likewise expected to use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Its 4,800 mAh battery is said to support up to 26 hours of video playback.
Flex Titanium May Be Shared
Both book-style models are rumored to use Flex Titanium technology. Samsung says the technology can improve display durability and help reduce the visibility of the crease on the main panel.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 is expected to retain the familiar clamshell format while becoming thinner, lighter, and more durable than its predecessor. It is rumored to offer a 6.9-inch main screen, a 4.1-inch outer screen, 12 GB of RAM, and a 4,300 mAh battery.
The Flip8 may include a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP selfie camera. Its chipset remains uncertain, although Exynos 2600 has been mentioned as a possibility.

Galaxy Unpacked, themed “A New Shape Unfolds,” is scheduled for London, England, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 14:00 BST. Samsung plans to stream the event through its official website, Samsung Newsroom, and Samsung’s YouTube channel.
