Vivo Y21d Launches in Indonesia: $130 Smartphone with 50MP Camera and Military-Grade Durability

Vivo has officially launched the Vivo Y21d in Indonesia, targeting users seeking a durable smartphone priced around Rp 2 million (approximately $130 USD). This model stands out by offering military-grade durability and high-end camera features typically unseen in this price segment.

The Vivo Y21d is designed for outdoor workers and active users who need a device that can withstand challenging conditions. Vivo highlights that the phone can endure exposure to pressurized water jets and physical impacts, making it suitable for tough environments.

Durability Certifications and Physical Features
The phone brings three major certifications: IP68, IP69, and IP69+, which collectively guarantee water resistance up to six meters deep and protection against high-pressure water sprays. In addition, Vivo Y21d passed SGS Gold 5-Star testing and met military-grade standards with successful drop tests from 1.5 meters.

In terms of build, the handset measures 166.14 × 77.01 × 8.39 mm and weighs 209 grams, providing a solid and robust feel. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the side power button, combining security and ease of access.

Display and Performance Specifications
This phone features a 6.68-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution (1608 × 720 pixels). The display offers up to 1,000 nits of brightness, ensuring clear visibility under bright sunlight, and supports a smooth 90 Hz refresh rate for a better visual experience.

The Vivo Y21d is powered by a Unisoc T7225 chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz, built on a 12 nm process. It runs on the latest Android 15 platform paired with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 15 interface. Available memory configurations range from 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage to options up to 8 GB RAM with 256 GB storage, catering to different user needs.

Battery Life and Charging
One of the major selling points of the Vivo Y21d is its large 6,500 mAh battery. Vivo claims the device can last up to three days under normal usage conditions, which makes it reliable for users who require extended battery life. Furthermore, it supports 44W FlashCharge fast charging, capable of reaching 50% battery in about 40 minutes. A Bypass Charging feature also helps maintain stable temperature during charging while the phone is in use.

Camera Capabilities
The Vivo Y21d boasts a 50 MP main rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8, which is rather impressive for a smartphone in this price range. It also includes a 0.08 MP depth sensor and LED flash for additional photography versatility. For selfies and video calls, there is a 5 MP front camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

Thanks to its IP69+ certification, the Vivo Y21d can perform underwater photography, allowing users to capture photos even when the device is wet without worrying about water damage.

Pricing and Availability in Indonesia
The phone was officially introduced on November 1, 2025, and has been available across online and offline stores in Indonesia since October 24, 2025. The base model with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage is priced at Rp 2.1 million (around $136 USD). Higher-end variants, such as 6 GB/256 GB and 8 GB/128 GB versions, are priced around Rp 2.6 million (approximately $168 USD).

Vivo aims to position the Y21d as a symbol of durability and perseverance for Indonesian users who need a resilient smartphone for active and demanding lifestyles. As Alexa Tiara, Public Relations Manager of Vivo Indonesia, remarked, the product reflects the spirit of hard work and adaptability characteristic of many users.
