Vivo S50 Series Launches in December Featuring Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and Periscope Camera

Vivo is set to launch its new S50 Series in China this December 2025. The lineup includes two flagship models: Vivo S50 and Vivo S50 Pro Mini, drawing significant attention from tech enthusiasts.

The Vivo S50 Pro Mini is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This marks a major performance upgrade for the S Series, promising flagship-level capabilities and efficiency.

Early benchmarks reveal that the S50 Pro Mini can score over 3 million points on AnTuTu. This performance highlights its ability to handle demanding apps and heavy gaming sessions smoothly.

Meanwhile, the standard Vivo S50 model is expected to run on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. Both phones will feature LPDDR5x RAM running at 9600 Mbps and UFS 4.1 storage, enabling fast data transfer and seamless multitasking.

Design and Display Quality

Both the Vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini sport AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1.5K and a vibrant 120Hz refresh rate. The S50 boasts a larger 6.59-inch OLED screen, while the Pro Mini opts for a compact 6.31-inch OLED panel.

The series adopts aerospace-grade aluminum frames, offering a sturdy and premium feel. The Pro Mini may also bring IP68 and IP69 certifications for dust and water resistance, enhancing durability in day-to-day use.

Security is ensured by ultrasonically embedded fingerprint sensors featuring 3D Ultrasonic Fingerprint 2.0 technology. This promises fast and accurate biometric unlocking on both models.

Advanced Camera Systems Including Periscope Lens

Photography is a key highlight for the Vivo S50 series. Both models are expected to carry triple rear camera setups, including a periscope telephoto lens for enhanced zoom capabilities.

Specifically, the Vivo S50 Pro Mini has been confirmed to include a dual rear camera setup featuring a Sony IMX882 main sensor and a telephoto periscope lens. This setup competes with flagship-grade zoom performance.

Front-facing cameras on the Pro Mini will have a 50-megapixel sensor, providing high-resolution selfies and improved video call quality. Vivo claims full focal length zoom is comparable to their flagship models.

Battery and Charging Capabilities

The Vivo S50 Pro Mini will include a 6,500mAh “Blue Sea” battery to support intensive usage. It supports ultra-fast 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging, reducing downtime considerably.

The standard Vivo S50 will also support 90W fast wired charging, ensuring quick power top-ups for users on the go.

Software and Market Availability

Both devices run on OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. This enables a modern interface and introduces new features for optimized performance and user experience.

Initially launching in China, the series might arrive globally in Q1 2026 under other names such as Vivo V70 or Vivo X300 FE. This strategy aims to capture premium and mid-range market segments worldwide.

Estimated Pricing and Pre-Orders

Although official prices have not been disclosed, industry estimates peg the Vivo S50 around 2,699 CNY (~$375 USD). The Vivo S50 Pro Mini could reach approximately 3,799 CNY (~$530 USD), depending on configuration and camera features.

Chinese consumers have already started pre-ordering and can participate in giveaways to win units or additional prizes.

The Vivo S50 Series promises to upgrade the brand’s mid-range offerings through enhanced performance, standout camera technology, and premium design elements. It sets new benchmarks for this category as Vivo prepares for its global rollout.
