OnePlus 11, the flagship smartphone launched nearly three years ago, has begun receiving a major software update to OxygenOS 16, based on Android 16. This update marks a significant milestone as part of OnePlus’s commitment to deliver four major OS updates to the device, ensuring support until the release of OxygenOS 17 next year.
The rollout has started with the firmware version CPH2447_16.0.1.300(EX01), and OnePlus confirmed a gradual global release to reach more regions over time. This update introduces a range of notable improvements, including smoother animations, enhanced system performance, expanded AI capabilities, refreshed visuals, and better system control.
Smoother Animations and Interface Responsiveness
One of the most immediately noticeable changes is in the fluidity and responsiveness of the interface. OnePlus has upgraded Parallel Processing to provide more seamless transitions across system apps. Drag-and-drop actions for icons, widgets, folders, and the Smart Sidebar now feel more natural and precise.
Additionally, the magnifier tool for text selection appears and disappears more effortlessly. The status bar slides smoothly when pulling down the notification panel or Quick Settings, with the option to stop the motion midway, giving users more control over UI interactions.
Performance Enhancements Through Trinity Engine
A revamped Trinity Engine dynamically adjusts workload in real time. OnePlus claims this delivers more stable frame rates in gaming by smartly prioritizing tasks. Pop-up windows and video calls also run more smoothly, consuming less power overall.
Photo album loading speeds have improved, alongside optimized thumbnail power usage. Cached videos in supported apps now preview faster, adding to better media handling performance.
Expanded AI Features and Visual Updates
OxygenOS 16 expands AI integration across core apps including Photos, Notes, Recorder, Writer, and VoiceScribe.
The Photos app now features clearer category organization, simplified album navigation, swipe-up info panels, stronger video editing tools, automatic alignment, enriched collages, and improved filters.
Notes introduces block editing, side-by-side image views, full note link-sharing, new highlight styles, and additional formatting options.
The Recorder app benefits from AI noise reduction, automatic meeting or lecture detection, redesigned layout, and easy sharing of audio, transcripts, and summaries.
Writer supports generating diverse content types such as mind maps and tables. VoiceScribe offers improved call summaries with better context handling.
Visually, the OS updates include new lighting effects, Aurora effects, live weather animations, and redesigned Clock, Calculator, and Compass apps. The Flux Home feature refreshes icon styles with options like text-free icons, category-based drawer mode, rearranged search bar, enhanced suggestions, customizable widget names, adjustable clocks, lock screen text options, and icon styles that adapt to wallpapers and dark mode.
Connectivity Upgrades and Additional Features
OxygenOS 16 boosts connectivity with Touch to Share and improvements in OnePlus Connect, including multi-window PC support and cross-device clipboard. Device Connect settings are now grouped for ease.
Bluetooth car connections are improved, and a new My Devices center with matching widgets is introduced. AI LinkBoost gets enhanced for faster link establishment. Users can now also share the phone’s Wi-Fi connection with tablets.
Other new additions include AI Doc Scanner, customizable Quick Settings with larger 2×1 tile options, cleaner notifications, ringtone playback limited to earbuds, dedicated AI settings page, Bosnian language support, revamped Smart Sidebar, redesigned battery stats, faster iOS migration, enhanced virus scanning, improved data transfer speeds, and the November 2025 security patch.
Locking or hiding apps by holding their icon on the home screen is now available, offering better privacy control.
This update reaffirms OnePlus’s long-term support strategy, giving devices like the OnePlus 11 extended value despite their age. Four major OS updates provide users with the newest features and ongoing security protection, prolonging the device’s relevance and usability in the competitive smartphone market.
By continuing to enhance user experience and connectivity while maintaining robust performance and security, OxygenOS 16 significantly refreshes the OnePlus 11’s software foundation. Users can expect a smoother, smarter, and more visually engaging interaction with their device in the months ahead.
