Xiaomi Prepares Over 7 New Products Ahead of Lunar New Year, Featuring Xiaomi 17 Ultra

Xiaomi is gearing up to release over seven new products before the Lunar New Year celebration in 2025. The Chinese tech giant aims to strengthen its global foothold by launching a diverse lineup ranging from flagship smartphones and wearable devices to IoT gadgets, all integrated into its HyperOS ecosystem.

At the center of attention is the highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 Ultra. This flagship smartphone features an advanced camera setup that includes a 1-inch main sensor reportedly developed with OmniVision, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with up to 5x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra promises up to 30% better performance and 25% improved energy efficiency compared to previous models. In the wearable category, Xiaomi plans to launch its first full Android smartwatch powered by HyperOS. This device supports eSIM functionality through an embedded eUICC chip, enabling standalone calls, messaging, and internet access without a paired phone. Its 930mAh battery capacity is among the largest in the category, with a predicted battery life of 5 to 7 days. The smartwatch is designed for seamless integration within Xiaomi’s ecosystem, presenting a robust challenge to premium wearables like the Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch.

Xiaomi’s upcoming portfolio also includes two new earbuds models, a midrange tablet, and several IoT devices. The earbuds line-up will likely cover both premium models with active noise cancellation and budget versions under the Redmi brand. The tablet is expected to feature a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor, an 11-inch display, and an optional stylus. IoT products will probably include smart lights, security sensors, and smart speakers that are fully compatible with HyperOS. Regarding the launch strategy, Xiaomi may either host a major event for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra or carry out multiple staged announcements for different products. The Redmi Turbo 5 series might debut at a separate event or be part of the Lunar New Year showcase, while wearables and IoT devices could quietly roll out via official online platforms like JD.com. The timing capitalizes on the traditional Chinese New Year shopping season, when consumers seek new gadgets as symbols of good fortune.

This comprehensive release is not just for the Chinese market. Xiaomi plans to introduce global versions of these products within 2 to 4 months following the initial launch. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is poised to compete directly with flagship rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Meanwhile, the Redmi Turbo 5 series threatens competitors like realme, OnePlus Nord, and POCO in the midrange sector. The new Android smartwatch will be tested in key international markets, including Europe and Southeast Asia.
