Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, and Leitzphone Edition Officially Launching Soon: Key Features Preview

Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi 17 series in Indonesia, featuring three models: the Xiaomi 17 regular, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and a special edition called the Xiaomi 17 Leica Leitzphone Edition. This plan was confirmed through official registration documents on the Indonesian Ministry of Industry’s TKDN website.

The three models hold the same local content level of 37.54%, and each supports 5G connectivity. Xiaomi Indonesia registered three different model numbers: 25113PNOEG for the 17, 2512BPNDAG for the Ultra, and 25128PNA1G for the Leica Leitzphone Edition, signaling a near launch in the market.

Model Availability and Certification Status
Although the TKDN certification is completed, the devices have yet to receive SDPPI certification from the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Both certifications are mandatory for any electronic product before official sales in Indonesia. The ongoing SDPPI approval is likely the last major step before the official launch announcement.

Interestingly, Xiaomi will not bring the Pro variant of the Xiaomi 17 series to Indonesia or global markets. This model will remain exclusive to China, following Xiaomi’s previous release strategy. Instead, Indonesia will see only the regular and Ultra versions, along with the Leica Leitzphone special model.

Key Specifications of Xiaomi 17
The Xiaomi 17 has debuted earlier in China, boasting a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and running on HyperOS 3, based on Android 16. For Indonesia, the battery will have a capacity of 6,300 mAh, slightly less than China’s 7,000 mAh, but it will still support 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

The camera system is a highlight, developed in partnership with Leica. It features a triple 50 MP arrangement: a main Light Hunter 950 sensor at 1/1.31-inch size, an ultrawide 17mm lens, and a telephoto lens with 2.6x optical zoom. The front camera is also a 50 MP sensor, designed for high-quality selfies.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leitzphone Edition Focus on Photography
The Ultra model is expected to launch globally at MWC 2026 and emphasizes camera performance, using larger sensors including a 1-inch main sensor for enhanced light capture and detail.

The Leica Leitzphone Edition shares the Ultra’s camera setup but adds premium design elements and special optical features. This edition targets photography enthusiasts seeking better imaging quality and distinct aesthetics. Xiaomi’s collaboration with Leica has deepened through this partnership, following similar previous models.

Launch Timeline and Market Positioning in Indonesia
While an exact launch date in Indonesia is not confirmed, the Ultra variant may debut by late December in some markets. Indonesian sales depend on completing the SDPPI certification process.

With three variants, Xiaomi aims to cover a broad segment. The standard Xiaomi 17 is for general users, the Ultra targets performance and photography enthusiasts, and the Leitzphone Edition aims at collectors and serious photographers.

This multi-variant approach strengthens Xiaomi’s position in Indonesia’s competitive premium smartphone market. The brand balances features, performance, and design to meet diverse consumer needs by leveraging Leica’s renowned imaging technology.
