GameMT has unveiled the EX5, a new affordable handheld gaming console that aims to deliver strong specifications for its price range. The device targets gamers who seek a budget-friendly portable system without compromising on display quality or performance capabilities.
The EX5 features a 5-inch IPS LCD screen with a Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. This level of resolution is notably rare in entry-level handheld consoles, offering crisp visuals that enhance gaming experiences on the go. The unit’s design bears a resemblance to Sony’s PlayStation Vita but includes unique control layouts and power management innovations.
Under the hood, the GameMT EX5 runs on a MediaTek Helio G81 chipset built with a 12nm manufacturing process. This chipset combines two Cortex-A75 cores with six Cortex-A55 cores and integrates a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU. It is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD slot. This hardware setup is optimized to support Android games, emulators, and cloud gaming services smoothly within its performance class.
Being an Android-based system, the EX5 offers extensive compatibility with native Android titles and popular emulation apps such as ES-DE and Pegasus. The console also supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz) to provide stable online connectivity for multiplayer gaming or streaming cloud games.
Regarding controls, the EX5 includes a D-pad, face buttons, shoulder buttons, and a single thumbstick on the left side. Instead of the conventional second thumbstick on the right, it features a mechanical rotary switch that lets players toggle between three modes: Performance, Balanced, and Power Saving-Automatic. This innovative design allows users to directly manage battery consumption and system performance during gameplay.
The console will be available in three color options: white, black, and dark blue. Although GameMT has yet to announce a price or release date officially, the company has confirmed that the EX5 will launch soon, hinting at an imminent market arrival.
In comparison to competitors, the handheld gaming market for Android devices includes products like the Ayaneo Pocket DMG Silver Limited Edition, equipped with a Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 chipset, and the Pocket Vert featuring a smaller 3.5-inch LTPS screen and a large 6,000mAh battery. The upcoming EX5 can appeal particularly to buyers seeking a lower-cost alternative without sacrificing a large Full HD display.
