Amazfit Active Max Unveiled: Ultra-Bright Display and Long-Lasting 25-Day Battery Life

Amazfit has launched its latest smartwatch, the Amazfit Active Max, targeting active users, athletes, and outdoor sports enthusiasts. The device features an exceptionally bright AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and offers an impressive battery life that can last up to 25 days on a single charge.

The Amazfit Active Max weighs only 39.5 grams without the strap and is constructed with an aluminum and polymer body that ensures durability while maintaining a lightweight feel. Its round 1.5-inch AMOLED screen has a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels, significantly surpassing the typical 1,000 to 2,000 nits brightness found on most premium smartwatches. This ultra-bright display remains readable even under direct sunlight, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and marathon running.

To enhance user comfort and conserve battery, the smartwatch includes an adaptive brightness feature that automatically adjusts display intensity according to ambient lighting. The overall design emphasizes a sleek, minimalist black finish that underscores a premium look and feel suitable for daily wear and sports.

Battery performance is a standout feature of the Active Max, boasting a 658 mAh battery capacity. Amazfit claims up to 25 days of battery life during normal usage, which includes notifications, heart rate monitoring, and sleep tracking. In Always-On Display mode, the battery sustains for up to 10 days, while continuous GPS use can last approximately 64 hours or just under three days. These figures are supported by the energy-efficient Zepp OS that Amazfit uses, which optimizes power consumption without sacrificing core functionalities.

The 64-hour GPS endurance is particularly beneficial for users engaging in multi-day outdoor adventures, reducing the need for frequent recharging or carrying bulky power banks. This reliable battery duration positions the Active Max favorably against competitors that generally offer shorter battery life.

One of the more innovative features integrated into the Active Max is BioCharge, a health monitoring system designed to assess the user’s physical energy levels in real time. This system evaluates four key parameters: daily physical activity, workout intensity, recovery quality, and psychological stress levels. Based on these inputs, BioCharge calculates an energy score to guide users on when to train or rest. This function closely mirrors similar metrics found in high-end brands such as Garmin’s Body Battery and Fitbit’s Readiness Score.

The BioCharge feature makes the Active Max not just a tracker but a personalized health assistant, appealing to athletes aiming to avoid overtraining, office workers balancing stress, and users focusing on maximizing daily productivity.

In terms of health tracking, the Amazfit Active Max offers 24/7 monitoring with advanced sensors for heart rate, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), sleep quality including REM and deep sleep stages, and stress levels through heart rate variability. The smartwatch also sends early warnings if abnormal readings are detected, such as an unusually high resting heart rate or a sudden drop in SpO2, providing timely health insights.

For sports enthusiasts, the device supports more than 170 activity modes ranging from running, cycling, swimming, gym workouts, and HIIT, to winter sports like skiing and snowboarding, plus outdoor activities including hiking and paddling. A unique selling point is its built-in topographic and ski maps, features typically reserved for high-end outdoor watches like the Garmin Fenix series.

Beyond tracking and sports, the Active Max includes practical extras such as water resistance certified up to 5 ATM, allowing use during swimming and in heavy rain. It also incorporates an internal microphone and speaker to enable Bluetooth calls from the watch when paired with a smartphone. Its 4 GB internal storage supports offline music playback via Bluetooth earphones, enhancing user convenience during workouts without needing to carry a phone.

Integration with third-party fitness apps such as Strava and Adidas Running is supported, managed through the Zepp app which centralizes device settings, data analysis, and firmware updates.

Priced competitively at €169.90 (approximately $180), the Amazfit Active Max offers impressive value compared to premium rivals like the Garmin Venu 3 or Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, which are typically priced considerably higher. Although initially launched in Europe with a black color variant, its availability in other regions such as Indonesia has yet to be officially announced.

The combination of a super-bright display, extended battery life, advanced health metrics, and robust activity support situates the Amazfit Active Max as a formidable contender in the mid-range smartwatch market. This device caters well to trail runners, multi-sport athletes, and everyday users who prioritize long battery endurance without compromising on smart features and ruggedness.

With wearable technology rapidly evolving, the Amazfit Active Max delivers a fresh example of innovation, strengthening Amazfit’s position in the highly competitive global smartwatch industry through thoughtful design and user-centric enhancements.
