LG Gram Pro 17-Inch with Aerominum: Discover the World’s Lightest Laptop Innovation!

LG has unveiled its latest innovation in lightweight laptops with the LG Gram Pro 2026 series, featuring a breakthrough material called “Aerominum.” This exclusive metal alloy enables the LP Gram Pro 17 model to claim the title of the world’s lightest 17-inch laptop. The device achieves this while maintaining military-grade durability, meeting MIL-STD-810H standards.

Aerominum is a metal composite developed by LG, designed to replace traditional aluminum chassis. It offers a significant weight reduction of 20–30% compared to standard aluminum frames. Despite its lightness, the material provides superior structural strength, resisting pressure, impacts, and vibrations, making the laptop highly durable. The casing finishes with a smooth metallic look that resists corrosion and aging, ensuring a premium appearance over time.

The Gram Pro 17 weighs less than many 15-inch laptops available on the market. LG accomplished this by engineering an ultra-thin, rigid chassis without the need for additional reinforcing structures, which typically add extra weight. This design innovation makes it exceptionally portable for users demanding both a large display and lightweight form factor.

LG offers two primary models in the Gram Pro 2026 lineup, each targeting distinct user groups. The LG Gram Pro 16 (16Z90U) is tailored for creators and mobile professionals. It features a 16-inch OLED screen with high resolution and accurate colors, ideal for graphic designers and executives who travel frequently. Equipped with Intel’s latest Core Ultra processors, this model prioritizes color fidelity, power efficiency, and extreme portability.

Meanwhile, the LG Gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) is intended for video editors, engineers, casual gamers, and data analysts. This 17-inch laptop uses an LCD WQXGA display with 2560 x 1600 resolution and includes an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 GPU—the latest architecture supporting AI-driven rendering and graphics acceleration. It balances a large screen size with light weight, offering high-performance GPU capabilities uncommon in this form factor.

One standout feature of the Gram Pro 2026 series is its AI on-device functionality. The laptops comply with Microsoft Copilot Plus PC requirements, which include a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of delivering 40 TOPS or more, at least 16 GB of RAM, and fast, efficient SSD storage. LG adds its proprietary AI assistant, LG Gram Chat, that operates locally on the device. This means users enjoy instant AI-driven assistance without internet dependency, ensuring data privacy and zero latency. Tasks such as document analysis, email summarization, text translation, and content drafting happen entirely onboard, protecting sensitive user data.

The series also introduces Gram Link, a cross-platform connectivity ecosystem. This feature enables seamless screen mirroring between the laptop and LG webOS TVs, external monitors, or projectors. File transfers between the laptop and Android or iOS smartphones happen instantly. Additionally, users can control smart home devices directly from the laptop and share screens in real-time with colleagues, eliminating the need for third-party apps.

Security is enhanced through LG ThinQ integration, offering remote device management options. With Remote Lock, users can secure their laptop if lost, and Remote Wipe allows permanent deletion of sensitive data. Location tracking helps users find their device via LG Cloud services. These features complement existing hardware-based security solutions like Windows Hello and TPM, providing comprehensive protection for professionals handling confidential information.

The hardware inside LG Gram Pro 2026 emphasizes robust performance for AI workflows and heavy multitasking. Intel’s Hybrid Core Ultra processors balance power and efficiency, while the RTX 5050 GPU on the 17-inch model offers AI acceleration for tasks like 4K video editing and 3D simulations. Memory utilizes LPDDR5X technology, and PCIe Gen 5 SSDs provide blazing fast data access. A dual-airflow cooling system manages heat effectively, ensuring sustained high performance without throttling.

The Gram Pro 17 will debut exclusively in the North American market, possibly due to strategic partnerships with NVIDIA and Microsoft. Meanwhile, the Gram Pro 16 is projected to be available globally, including key markets in Asia and Europe. Although pricing details remain undisclosed, industry estimates suggest a starting price at approximately $1,499. Official sales will begin in January 2026 following the CES launch.

LG’s Gram Pro 2026 series challenges the conventional trade-offs between laptop size, weight, durability, and intelligence. By using Aerominum and integrating cutting-edge AI features, LG provides a compelling choice for professionals who need large-screen productivity on the go. This series positions LG as a strong competitor in premium laptops, offering mobility without sacrificing toughness or computing power.
