Tecno Kept Camon 50 Prices Flat, Rare Memory Shortage Spared One Line

Techno’s decision to keep the Tecno Camon 50 price unchanged stands out at a time when global memory shortages are putting pressure on smartphone makers. The company has already adjusted prices on several other models in Indonesia, but the Camon 50 series remains exempt from the latest round of increases.

The context behind the move is a tighter supply market for NAND Flash memory, which has become more expensive as demand tied to artificial intelligence keeps rising worldwide. In Indonesia, that pressure has begun to reach retail pricing, especially in budget and mid-range phones, where component costs matter more and margins are thinner.

Why memory shortages are affecting smartphone prices

Memory chips are a key part of every modern smartphone, and NAND Flash is used for storage across nearly all device categories. When supply becomes constrained, manufacturers often face higher production costs, and those costs can eventually reach consumers through higher suggested retail prices.

Tecno Mobile Indonesia confirmed that the company made price adjustments in April 2026, but only for selected entry-level models. Anthoni Roderick, the company’s PR Manager, said, “For April, we have an increase in SRP (suggested retail price),” signaling that the brand had begun revising prices in response to market conditions.

The company’s approach shows that it is not applying one blanket increase across its portfolio. Instead, Tecno appears to be protecting some of its more strategic models from price disruption, including the Camon 50 line.

Models that saw price changes

Tecno’s price revisions were limited, but they were still noticeable for consumers shopping in the lower and middle segments. The clearest increases were seen in the Spark and Pova series, which are among Tecno’s most competitive lines in Indonesia.

  1. Tecno Spark Go 3 4GB/64GB: $94, up from about $88
  2. Tecno Pova 7 5G 8GB/128GB: $200, up from about $188
  3. Tecno Pova 7 5G 8GB/256GB: $206, up from about $200

These changes suggest that Tecno is selectively passing on part of the cost pressure to products where pricing flexibility may still exist. That strategy can help the company maintain its supply chain and protect margins without disturbing every model in the lineup.

Tecno Camon 50 keeps its price

Unlike the other series, the Tecno Camon 50 did not receive a new price tag in this period. That means all Camon 50 variants continue to carry the same pricing as before, which gives the series a rare position in Tecno’s current portfolio.

At the street level, however, market monitoring showed a small difference between offline and online prices for some Tecno models. Erick noted that the higher online price reflected a separate distribution pattern, saying the online channel tends to be “a little more expensive.”

That detail matters because many buyers now compare official stores, marketplaces, and offline retailers before making a purchase. Even when a manufacturer does not announce a formal price rise for one model, market dynamics can still lead to small variations across channels.

For the Camon 50 8GB/128GB, the price observed in official marketplaces reached $252, compared with its launch price of about $238. While that figure suggests that some online pricing has moved, the company’s formal stance remains that the Camon 50 series was not part of the April SRP adjustment.

What the Camon 50 line offers

The Camon series has long been positioned as Tecno’s camera-focused smartphone family. It usually targets users who want a more premium feel, better imaging capability, and a stronger design identity without moving into flagship pricing.

That positioning helps explain why Tecno may want to keep the Camon 50 stable during a period of broader cost pressure. A price increase on a camera-centric model could weaken its appeal against rivals in the same range from brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, and realme.

The Camon 50’s pricing stability could also support sales momentum in the mid-range segment, where buyers often delay purchasing when prices jump unexpectedly. In a market affected by component shortages, a steady price can become a sales advantage on its own.

How this affects buyers in Indonesia

Consumers in Indonesia are now seeing a mixed pricing environment in smartphones. Some devices are going up, while others stay the same, and the difference often depends on model class, sales channel, and inventory timing.

For buyers, this makes timing more important than before. A phone that was affordable a few weeks ago may now cost more, while another model in the same brand family may remain unchanged.

To make comparisons easier, here is a simple view of Tecno’s latest pricing movement:

Model New Price Previous Price Change
Spark Go 3 4GB/64GB $94 $88 Up
Pova 7 5G 8GB/128GB $200 $188 Up
Pova 7 5G 8GB/256GB $206 $200 Up
Camon 50 Series No change announced Same as before Stable

This table shows the uneven impact of the memory crunch. Tecno has not raised every model, and that gives buyers more room to compare options based on actual needs rather than brand perception alone.

Why Tecno may be holding Camon 50 steady

Smartphone makers often protect popular or strategically important models when supply costs rise. They may choose to keep prices steady in one line while adjusting less central products to absorb the hit.

Tecno’s decision may reflect a balance between competitiveness and cost control. By keeping Camon 50 unchanged, the company can preserve interest in a mid-range model that helps define its image in the market.

The move also suggests that Tecno is trying to stay responsive without triggering a broad price shock. That matters in Indonesia, where price sensitivity remains high and consumers often compare multiple brands before buying.

The memory shortage issue is unlikely to disappear quickly because global AI demand continues to put extra pressure on semiconductor supply. For now, Tecno’s Camon 50 remains one of the few models in the brand’s lineup that has avoided a formal price rise, even as other devices in the same ecosystem have already been adjusted.
