Huawei has opened pre-orders for the Pura X Max in China ahead of its first launch event on Monday, April 20. The foldable immediately stands out for its 7.69-inch main display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, a format that gives it a noticeably wider feel than many book-style foldables.
A foldable built around a wider screen
The most eye-catching detail on the Pura X Max is not just its size, but its shape. Huawei has chosen a layout that aims to make the unfolded experience feel more spacious, with the large 7.69-inch main panel paired with a 5.5-inch secondary screen.
That combination is meant to support everyday tasks that benefit from extra width. Reading documents, using multiple apps side by side, and watching video should all feel more comfortable on a screen format that moves away from the tall, narrow design common in many foldables.
Premium design choices across the body
Huawei is also giving the device a distinct look from the rear. The back uses a dual-texture design that mixes a smooth surface with striped detailing, creating a more premium visual identity.
The rear camera module is shaped as a horizontal oval and houses three main lenses. Near the hinge area, Huawei places its branding vertically so the logo remains visible when the phone is fully opened.
Color and memory options
The Pura X Max will arrive in five color choices: Interstellar Blue, Ollive Gold, Phantom Night Black, Vibrant Orange, and Zero Degree White.
Huawei is also offering four storage configurations aimed at high-end users. The available memory options are listed below:
- 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage
- 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage
- 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage
- 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage
These variants show that Huawei is targeting users who need plenty of space for apps, media, and work files.
Flagship performance and camera flexibility
Although Huawei has not revealed the full specifications yet, the Pura X Max is said to use the Kirin 9030 flagship chipset. If that detail proves accurate at launch, the device could deliver strong performance for multitasking, camera processing, and heavy daily use.
Huawei also places a camera on both the outer display and the inner screen. That setup adds flexibility for selfies and video calls, since users will not always need to unfold the phone to access the front camera.
Why the timing matters in China
China’s foldable phone market continues to grow, and buyers there tend to pay close attention to design, screen quality, and camera hardware. In that environment, opening pre-orders before the official debut suggests Huawei is confident about the Pura X Max’s appeal.
With its wide display, premium styling, and high-memory configurations, the device is positioned as one of Huawei’s key foldable offerings for the next generation of premium smartphones.
