Early reports around iQOO 16 suggest that the next flagship from the brand is already moving through development in China. The device has started drawing attention because the initial leaks point to major upgrades in two areas that often define a premium phone: processing power and display quality.

The information came from tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, and it suggests that iQOO 16 is no longer just a distant rumor. Instead, the device appears to be entering an early stage of development, which has made it one of the more closely watched upcoming flagships in the market.

A flagship built around speed and display quality

The direction of the leaks places iQOO 16 as the direct successor to iQOO 15. Based on the current information, the phone is expected to focus on stronger computing performance, better power efficiency, and a more refined visual experience.

That positioning fits iQOO’s usual flagship identity, especially for users who prioritize high speed and a premium screen. The reported combination of a next-generation chipset and a high-resolution Samsung panel suggests a device that is being shaped for demanding use, including gaming and media consumption.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro becomes the main talking point

The biggest highlight so far is the chipset. iQOO 16 is rumored to use Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, an unreleased Qualcomm chip that is said to carry the internal code SM8975.

The same leak also claims that the chip will use a 2nm manufacturing process. If that turns out to be accurate, iQOO 16 could be among the early premium phones adopting one of the most advanced production nodes available, with the usual promise of stronger performance and improved efficiency.

A smaller manufacturing process generally allows more transistors to fit into the same space. In practical terms, that often helps devices deliver higher performance without increasing power consumption too sharply, although the final result still depends on software tuning and thermal management.

Samsung-made 2K flat display is also in the spotlight

The display is another area that has attracted attention. The leaked information points to a flat Samsung panel with 2K resolution and an ultra-high refresh rate, although the exact figure has not been revealed.

A flat screen would also fit the profile of a phone aimed at heavy use. Compared with curved panels, flat displays are often preferred for easier handling during long sessions and for reducing accidental touches along the edges.

For context, iQOO 15 came with a 6.85-inch Samsung M14 8T LTPO AMOLED display. That panel supported up to 144Hz refresh rate, 508ppi pixel density, and a local peak brightness of 6,000 nits, so any upgrade on iQOO 16 would need to push beyond already strong specs.

What the previous model suggests about the next step

iQOO 15 already relied on Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a 3nm process. If iQOO 16 indeed moves to a 2nm chip, the generational jump could be noticeable in both efficiency and performance.

Pricing has also become part of the discussion. When iQOO 15 launched in India, the starting price was Rs 72,999 for the 12GB/256GB version, while the 16GB/512GB model was sold at Rs 79,999. That has led to speculation that iQOO 16 could arrive at a higher price when it is finally unveiled.

No official confirmation has come from iQOO or Vivo yet regarding the final specifications. Even so, the current reports indicate a clear direction: iQOO 16 is being shaped as a flagship that puts top-tier performance and display quality at the center of its appeal.
