Oppo has confirmed the ColorOS 16.1 rollout plan for more than 20 Oppo and OnePlus devices, giving users a clearer picture of when the update will arrive. The schedule is not a single-day release, but a staged rollout that begins with limited testing before moving into a stable release phase.
The company also revealed the first batch of features tied to this version. Alongside visual refinements and smoother motion across the interface, ColorOS 16.1 is set to bring new AI-based elements, including a one-click flash memory feature that was mentioned in the rollout roadmap.
Early access was tightly limited
Before the stable release begins, Oppo opened a short beta registration window for selected devices only. The application period ran from 16 April until 17 April at 00.00, and users had to move quickly if they wanted to join the first test phase.
The enrollment steps were handled through the system settings menu. Users needed to go to Settings > System & Updates > Software Update, then open Apply for Early Access > Beta Test Card, and tap Apply Now.
Access was not broad at this stage. Oppo restricted the beta program to the Oppo Find X9 series and OnePlus 15, then reviewed all submitted applications after registration closed. That review period was scheduled from 18 April to 24 April, while beta distribution was set to begin on 21 April.
Stable rollout starts in two waves
After the testing phase, Oppo planned to begin the stable ColorOS 16.1 rollout from 10 May. The update will not reach all supported models at once, because the company is splitting distribution into two large waves.
The first wave is scheduled from 10 May to 20 May. It covers several of the newest and highest-end devices in the ecosystem, including the Oppo Find N6 / N5, Oppo Find X9 series, Oppo Find X8 series, and Oppo Find X8s series.
That initial group also includes the Oppo Pad 4 Pro, OnePlus Tablet 2 Pro, OnePlus 15 series, OnePlus 13 series, OnePlus Ace 6 series, and OnePlus Turbo 6 series. The lineup shows that Oppo is placing recent flagship phones, foldables, and premium tablets at the front of the queue.
More devices follow later in May
The second wave is planned for 21 May to 31 May. This phase expands the rollout to older series and additional tablet models across both brands.
On the Oppo side, the list includes the Oppo Find X7 series, Oppo Reno 15 series, Oppo Reno 14 Pro series, Oppo K15 series, Oppo K13 Turbo Pro, and Oppo Pad 5. OnePlus devices in this wave are the OnePlus 12, OnePlus Ace 5 series, and OnePlus Tablet 2.
Taken together, the official roadmap covers more than 20 devices and series across Oppo and OnePlus. The structure of the schedule suggests that the company is prioritizing newer products first, then expanding availability in the following phase.
What ColorOS 16.1 is bringing
Oppo has also started to outline the experience changes in this version. The update is expected to introduce a new Lock Screen Island, smoother animations, and more immersive interface transitions.
The company is also adding AI-driven functions into the system layer. While the roadmap does not provide full technical details, the mention of one-click flash memory indicates that Oppo is expanding the software with tools aimed at making the interface feel smarter and more efficient.
The overall direction of the update points to a stronger focus on visuals and responsiveness. That combination matters for users who want a more polished system experience, especially on devices that already sit at the top of the Oppo and OnePlus lineup.
For now, the schedule applies to China, while the global rollout is expected to be announced later. For OnePlus users in particular, the update may also arrive in the form of OxygenOS 16.1, keeping the software direction aligned across the shared ecosystem.
