Poco M8s 5G Debuts With A 7,000mAh Battery And 144Hz Display At An Entry-Level Price

Poco is expanding its budget 5G lineup with the launch of the Poco M8s 5G, a model built around a large battery, a fast display, and an entry-level price. The device starts at $189 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version, while a 8GB RAM and 256GB storage option is also available for $219.

A large display aimed at smoother everyday use

The Poco M8s 5G comes with a 6.9-inch Full HD+ screen that supports a 144Hz refresh rate. That specification is designed to make navigation, app switching, and video playback feel more fluid than on many phones in the same price segment.

Poco also says the display carries TÜV Rheinland eye-comfort certification. Peak brightness reaches 850 nits, which should help the screen stay readable when used outdoors.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 powers the device

For performance, Poco uses the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset built on a 6nm process. The chip is rated at speeds of up to 2.3GHz and is paired with memory configurations of up to 8GB RAM.

Storage options go up to 256GB, and the phone also supports microSD expansion of up to 2TB. That added flexibility may appeal to users who store photos, videos, or larger app libraries on their device.

Battery and charging are central to the appeal

One of the main highlights is the 7,000mAh battery. Poco positions the phone as a long-lasting option for users who spend much of the day away from a charger.

Charging support includes 33W fast charging, along with 18W reverse charging. The latter allows the phone to supply power to other devices in certain situations.

Camera and audio features keep the package balanced

On the rear, the Poco M8s 5G includes a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a secondary camera. The front camera uses an 8MP sensor and supports recording up to 1080p.

Poco also adds Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos support. Those features make the device more competitive for users who care about entertainment on a low-cost phone.

Design, protection, and software

The handset weighs around 217 grams and carries an IP64 rating, which provides protection against dust and splashes. It also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5G connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.1.

Software support comes from HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. The phone is available in black and white through Xiaomi’s official website in selected countries.

With a 144Hz display, a 7,000mAh battery, and pricing that stays within the budget range, the Poco M8s 5G is clearly aimed at buyers who want stronger specifications without moving into a higher price tier. That combination puts the phone in a more aggressive position within the entry-level 5G market.
