The company’s goal is to give listeners a clearer signal when they open an artist profile or search for music. A green check icon will appear in profiles and search results so users can identify official accounts faster.
Spotify says the badge focuses on who the creator is, not only on whether the music itself was made with artificial intelligence. That distinction matters as AI-based tracks continue to spread across streaming platforms and can sometimes sound close to human-made work.
How the verification works
The verification system is not being rolled out to everyone at once. Spotify is introducing it gradually over the next few weeks.
Artists must meet a set of conditions to receive the badge. They need consistent activity and listener engagement, a good standing on the platform, compliance with Spotify’s policies, and a clear identity both on and off Spotify.
That approach puts authenticity at the center of the feature. Rather than acting as a broad label for all synthetic music, the badge tells users that the profile belongs to a real and active artist on the platform.
A response to the rise of AI music
The move comes as AI-generated music has become a growing challenge for streaming services. Spotify has already worked to filter this kind of content, but the volume of AI music entering the platform remains high.

Spotify says the verification system could help identify about 99% of the artists who are searched most often, including hundreds of thousands of creators on the platform.
