iPhone 18 Pro Leaks Point to a Slimmer Dynamic Island and a Cleaner Front Display

The most noticeable change in the iPhone 18 Pro family may not be on the back panel, but right at the top of the display. Recent leaks suggest that Apple is preparing a smaller Dynamic Island for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, a move that could make the front of the phone look cleaner and more spacious in daily use.

That detail matters because the Dynamic Island has been one of the most recognizable parts of the Pro model design since it arrived on iPhone 14 Pro in 2022. If the latest leak proves accurate, Apple is not planning a dramatic redesign, but a refinement focused on the part users see most often.

A smaller top cutout is now the main rumor

The newest attention comes from a CAD file said to show the design of the iPhone 18 Pro series. According to a tipster on X, the file points to a punch-hole area above the display that is smaller than the one used on the current Pro models.

In the leaked image, the Dynamic Island appears narrower horizontally. At the same time, the area is said to be slightly taller vertically, which suggests that Apple may be adjusting how the front components are arranged behind the panel.

What that could mean for the display

A smaller Dynamic Island would immediately change the visual feel of the screen. With less interruption at the top, the front display could appear more open during everyday use.

That kind of update would be especially noticeable when watching videos, playing games, or simply navigating the interface. Even without a major change to the overall design language, a tighter front layout could make the phone feel more modern and less crowded.

Face ID changes are part of the speculation

One explanation that has emerged is that some Face ID or Touch ID sensors may be moved under the display. If that happens, not all of the components would need to remain inside the punch-hole area, which would allow Apple to shrink the Dynamic Island.

Rumors about under-display sensors have circulated around iPhone development for a long time. Apple has reportedly been working on this approach for years as part of a broader effort to create a fuller screen with fewer visual distractions.

The back may stay familiar

The leak also points to a more limited scope of change. The rear side of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is said to remain similar to the current generation, which would leave the front as the main area of visible update.

If that holds true, Apple’s priority appears to be improving the viewing experience rather than changing the device’s overall identity. A cleaner front panel could serve as the main selling point without requiring a drastic redesign of the back.

How much weight should be given to the CAD leak?

CAD-based leaks often appear early in the product cycle and are commonly used by accessory makers, including case manufacturers, to prepare for device dimensions before launch. That makes them useful for spotting design direction, especially in terms of size and shape.

Still, such leaks are not final proof. Details can change before Apple formally introduces the product, so the current information should be treated as an early indication rather than a confirmed blueprint.

Even so, a smaller Dynamic Island would be a meaningful shift because it would affect the most visible part of the iPhone Pro experience. Since the Dynamic Island first became part of the design on iPhone 14 Pro, any reduction in its size would stand out immediately to users.
