Galaxy Phones Gain Smarter Control Over Aggressive Ads, One New Device Care Option Does the Work

Samsung Galaxy users may soon have a more practical way to deal with aggressive ads inside apps. A new Device Care update is adding a feature called “Block apps with excessive ads,” giving the system a way to identify troublesome apps and suppress their interruptions.

The update is arriving through Device Care version v13.8.80.7, which tipster Kailash says has already started rolling out. Samsung is splitting the feature into two modes, with each one taking a different approach to handling ad-heavy apps.

In the basic mode, the system detects apps that frequently send ads and then mutes them when that behavior is noticed. In practice, Samsung says those apps are pushed into deep sleep, which effectively keeps them from continuing to disturb the user.

The more notable option is the intelligent mode. Instead of simply reacting to volume, it analyzes alerts from apps to determine whether they are ads, then blocks them when the alerts keep appearing repeatedly.

Samsung does not present the feature as flawless. The company says the software-based system still depends on its own judgment, so there remains a chance that an ad warning could be identified incorrectly.

That caution does not reduce the appeal for users who are tired of constant interruptions. The new feature is aimed at a broader level of app control, rather than limiting its effect to only a small set of specific applications.

Interest in the tool has been building since traces of it first surfaced during One UI 8.5 testing. At that point, it was still unclear whether Samsung planned to keep it narrow or make it available more widely across devices.

Signs from the stable update now point toward a broader rollout. That makes the feature one of the more useful additions tied to the current One UI 8.5 wave, especially as Samsung is pushing the software in the United States.

One UI 8.5 itself is also bringing AI call screening, editing tools, and a number of small interface adjustments in different parts of the software. The Device Care change fits into that broader package as a practical improvement rather than a flashy headline feature.

The update is also arriving as One UI 8.5 reaches more Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S25 series. For users who want a faster way to quiet intrusive apps, the basic mode offers a simple fix, while the intelligent mode is designed for those who want a cleaner result without managing every notification manually.
