A burglary at a boarding house in Pati ended with the loss of an iPhone 15 and a police case that now carries a charge of aggravated theft. The device, valued at Rp10,5 juta, disappeared while the owner was asleep, and the suspect has since been officially named.

How the phone vanished

The incident took place at Kos “Dhita” in Blaru Village, Pati District, Pati Regency. The victim, Mariska Zahra Selviana, only realized her phone was missing after waking up.

Police said the iPhone 15 was placed on the bed and left charging in the early hours of Wednesday (15/4/2026). When checked again around 05.00 WIB the next morning, the phone was no longer there.

Mariska then tried to track the device using the boarding house owner’s phone. That effort failed because the iPhone had already been turned off, leading her to file a report with Polresta Pati.

Police trace the suspect

After receiving the complaint, investigators moved quickly to follow the trail of the person who had entered the room. Polresta Pati Criminal Investigation Unit Head Dika Hadian Widya Wiratama said the initial investigation pointed to a suspect identified as ENY, also known as Enggar.

The suspect was arrested on Monday (27/4/2026) at around 15.20 WIB. During the arrest, officers secured several items of evidence linked to the case.

Those items included one pink iPhone 15, a Yamaha Lexy motorcycle, an Infinix phone, the clothes worn by the suspect, and other objects connected to the alleged crime.

Entry through the fence and window

Dika explained that the suspect did not enter the room openly. Instead, the person first climbed the boarding house fence before forcing open the victim’s window.

Once inside, the suspect took the phone from the room and left with it. The method of entry and the timing of the theft became important parts of the police finding.

The suspect is a resident of Dukuh Gembleb, Kutoharjo Village. Based on the investigation, police concluded that the theft happened while the victim was asleep and the room was left vulnerable.

Aggravated theft charge

Police classified the case as aggravated theft. ENY has been charged under Article 477 paragraph (1) letter e of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison or a fine of up to Rp500 juta. The case also highlights how boarding house rooms can be exposed to theft when access points are not secure.

In this incident, the suspect allegedly used a fence, a window, and the victim’s sleeping hours to reach a valuable electronic device. For boarding house residents, the case serves as a reminder that security risks can extend beyond a locked door.
