Vivo’s next premium phone lineup is starting to look more concrete, and the model drawing the most attention is the Vivo X500 Pro Max. Its appearance in the IMEI database has added fresh weight to expectations that the company is nearing the final stage of preparation for a new flagship family.
The IMEI listing matters because phones often surface there before launch, especially in the premium segment. In this case, the X500 Pro Max now joins the Vivo X500e, Vivo X500, and Vivo X500 Pro, showing that the full X500 family is already taking shape.
A new top-tier position in the X500 family
The naming pattern also points to how Vivo appears to be positioning the series. The X500 Pro Max is expected to sit above the X500 Pro and serve as the highest model in the lineup for the nearer term.
That role may be temporary, but it is still important. Industry reports suggest a future Ultra variant from the same line may not arrive until the first half of 2027, which would leave the Pro Max as Vivo’s main high-end model before that next step appears.
There are also signs that the broader Vivo X500 series is scheduled for a September 2026 release. Even so, there is no official confirmation yet on whether all models will be announced at once or introduced in stages across different regional markets.
Camera hardware remains the biggest story
The strongest attention around the X500 Pro Max still centers on imaging. Reports indicate that the entire Vivo X500 lineup is being tested with major camera upgrades, and the main models are said to use a 50-megapixel primary camera with a sensor size of around 1/1.28 inches.
That sensor size is notable because it usually helps capture more light. In practical terms, that can improve low-light shots, preserve more detail, and support a wider dynamic range.
Some industry reports also point to the Sony LYT-838 as the likely sensor choice. It is described as a newer Sony Semiconductor sensor designed for flagship smartphones with stronger computational imaging capabilities.
For the Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max, LOFIC, or Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is also said to be included. The technology is intended to extend dynamic range, particularly in backlit scenes and other high-contrast conditions.
That should help keep bright areas from blowing out too quickly. It also assists in holding detail in darker portions of the frame, which can make real-time HDR processing more effective.
Large display and a very big battery
Beyond the camera system, the X500 Pro Max is also rumored to bring noticeable upgrades in display and endurance. The device is said to feature a 6.9-inch AMOLED panel with 2K resolution and a high refresh rate.
Performance is expected to come from a MediaTek Dimensity 9600 series chipset that has not been officially announced yet. Together, these specifications place the phone firmly in premium territory and suggest a focus on top-end performance.
The battery is another headline feature. It is reportedly around 7,000mAh, a size that stands out in the flagship class and reflects a broader trend in Android phones toward balancing high performance with longer battery life.
Vivo is also said to be preparing 100W wired charging, along with wireless charging support. If those features do arrive together, the phone would not only aim for speed but also for practical everyday convenience.
Vivo’s premium strategy stays focused on imaging
Vivo has long used the X series to strengthen its identity in mobile photography. The company also maintained imaging collaboration with Zeiss in several previous flagships, including the Vivo X100 and X200 series.
Whether that partnership will continue in the X500 lineup has not been confirmed. Still, the company’s direction remains clear as competition intensifies across Android flagships, where camera quality, chipset strength, and on-device AI features are all major battlegrounds.
That competitive pressure is also visible across rivals such as Xiaomi, Oppo, and Honor, which are pushing larger camera sensors and more advanced computational photography. Against that backdrop, the appearance of the X500 Pro Max in the IMEI database is an early but meaningful sign that Vivo is preparing its next premium challenge.
