RedMagic’s next gaming phone is taking shape around a simple priority: keep performance high without letting the device slow down during long, demanding play sessions. The RedMagic 11S Pro series is scheduled to launch in China on 18 May, and early details point to a package built for sustained gaming rather than short bursts of speed.
That direction matters in the premium gaming phone segment, where raw power alone is not enough. A device also needs stable thermals, a smooth display, and enough battery capacity to handle high refresh rates and heavy graphics loads over extended use.
Overclocked silicon and early benchmark attention
The series is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Leading Edition, an overclocked chip positioned as the core of the 11S Pro lineup. That choice suggests RedMagic is again aiming for maximum headroom in gaming performance.
Attention has also been drawn to an early Geekbench result for the Pro Plus model. It is said to have crossed 4,000 points in single-core testing, placing it among the highest-scoring Android phones seen so far, although the final specifications still await the official announcement.
Cooling remains a central part of the design
RedMagic also appears to be pushing thermal management harder on this generation. That focus is consistent with the needs of a gaming phone, since sustained frame rates can quickly raise temperatures during long sessions.
The brand’s active cooling system is expected to return, alongside liquid cooling technology. Together, these features are intended to keep the device stable under heavy loads and prevent performance drops when games are pushed at high frame rates.
A large AMOLED panel aimed at competitive play
According to Smart Pikachu on Weibo and FoneArena, the RedMagic 11S Pro may feature a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution. The panel is also said to support a 144Hz refresh rate, a specification that fits both fast motion and competitive gaming.
The device is additionally reported to support 2K super-resolution gaming. RedMagic also appears to be optimizing the 11S series for high-frame-rate play across more than 200 titles, which would reinforce its gaming-first positioning.
The under-display front camera is expected to stay in place as well. That design choice helps preserve a full-screen look by avoiding a punch-hole or notch, which is especially useful when gaming or watching content full screen.
Battery strategy separates the two models
Power endurance may be one of the clearest differentiators in the new lineup. The RedMagic 11S Pro Plus is said to carry a 7,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery, paired with 120W fast charging and 80W wireless charging.
The standard Pro model is reportedly taking a different route, with a larger 8,000 mAh battery but slightly slower charging speeds than the Pro Plus. That creates two distinct options inside the same family: one for faster refills and one for longer runtime.
For a gaming phone, that split makes practical sense. Heavy games, high refresh rates, and active cooling all consume power quickly, so a larger battery can make a real difference in day-to-day use.
Memory, storage, and cameras are not ignored
Gizchina says the series may arrive with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Those numbers point to a device meant not only for top-tier performance, but also for multitasking and large game installations.
On the back, the phone is expected to carry two 50MP sensors. That setup shows RedMagic is still giving attention to imaging hardware, even though gaming remains the main focus of the product.
With the launch date already set for 18 May in China, the outline of the RedMagic 11S Pro series is becoming clearer. The combination of an overclocked Snapdragon chip, aggressive cooling, a 144Hz display, and an 8,000 mAh battery positions the device as a strong contender in the premium gaming phone category.
