Vivo’s S60 series is starting to reveal a new design direction, and the first thing that stands out is the silver-white finish. The reflective look gives the phone a more premium impression and suggests Vivo is positioning the lineup at a higher level before the full specifications are even official.
That visual push matters because the S60 family is not being introduced as a simple refresh. Early details around the S60 and S60 Pro Mini suggest Vivo wants the series to compete more seriously in the upper mid-range segment, with design now acting as one of the main selling points.
A new rear panel identity
According to Han Boxiao, Product Manager at Vivo Communication Technology, the rear panel takes inspiration from the way sunlight reflects off the sea in summer. The effect is said to shift as the phone moves, creating a shimmering wave-like appearance.
Han also mentioned a large glass back made with an integrated cold-carved technique. That approach is intended to make the device feel smoother in the hand while reinforcing the premium character of the body.
The teaser images already shared show the Vivo S60 keeping its camera module in the upper-left corner. The placement remains familiar, which suggests Vivo is preserving part of the design language used by the previous generation.
Early hardware details for the standard model
While the finish and industrial design are getting the earliest spotlight, hardware leaks have also started to shape expectations. Digital Chat Station has pointed to a 6.59-inch display with 1.5K resolution for the standard Vivo S60.
The same leak says the screen will feature slim bezels and rounded corners. That combination typically gives the front a cleaner and more modern appearance.
Battery capacity is also drawing attention. Vivo is said to be preparing a battery in the 7,000mAh range, paired with 90W fast charging.
If accurate, that would place the S60 among phones that aim to combine long endurance with quick top-ups. For many buyers, that balance can matter just as much as appearance.
Camera and durability features
The leaked specifications also mention a periscope telephoto camera using Sony IMX8 series hardware. This type of camera is commonly used to improve zoom capability and expand shooting flexibility.
Other reported features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, IP68 and IP69 ratings, and a metal middle frame. The device is also said to support magnetic accessories through a compatible case.
Digital Chat Station further claims that the standard Vivo S60 will use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. That points to performance that is meant to match the premium-leaning design rather than leaving the phone as a style-focused product only.
What is known about the Pro Mini model
Compared with the standard model, information on the Vivo S60 Pro Mini remains limited. Even so, one detail suggests it may keep a horizontal camera module, following the setup used on the previous S50 Pro Mini.
There is also a separate report saying both models may support a telephoto extender accessory. If that holds true, Vivo may be trying to widen the camera ecosystem around the S60 series.
The global naming pattern may also follow the same route as before. Last year, the Vivo S50 Pro Mini arrived in global markets as the Vivo X300 FE, and the S60 Pro Mini is now being linked to a possible international launch as the Vivo X500 FE.
That possible global version is being associated with a first-half 2027 timeframe. Vivo is also reportedly preparing a collaboration with a popular Chinese anime IP for one of the color variants, although the exact partnership details have not been disclosed.
