Xiaomi’s next large-screen flagship is starting to take shape, and the clearest signals point to two headline features: an 8000mAh battery and a 200MP main camera. Those two specifications alone put the Xiaomi 17 Max in a position to stand out as a more ambitious model than the standard Xiaomi 17.
The device is being framed as a premium big-screen option rather than a simple size-up version. Xiaomi Group partner and president of the mobile division Lu Weibing described the 17 Max as a “fully upgraded” version of the Xiaomi 17 standard, suggesting the model is meant to deliver more than just a larger display.
A familiar premium design direction
Recent teasers also point to a design language that should feel familiar to Xiaomi users. The phone appears with a 6.9-inch flat display, slim bezels, and a rounded rear camera module that blends smoothly into the back panel.
That approach is said to echo the design philosophy of the Xiaomi 15 series. Some variants are also expected to use premium materials, including ceramic or a carbon-fiber-inspired finish, which reinforces its flagship positioning.
Xiaomi has already confirmed three color options for the device: black, blue, and white. The palette keeps things restrained while leaving the materials and overall body shape to carry the premium impression.
Battery capacity takes center stage
The most eye-catching specification remains the 8000mAh battery. If accurate, it would be the largest battery ever used in a Xiaomi-branded phone, and that alone signals a strong focus on endurance.
Charging support is equally aggressive. The Xiaomi 17 Max is said to support 100W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and PPS support, creating a more flexible power setup than many conventional flagship phones.
200MP imaging and Leica branding
Camera hardware is also being pushed up a level. The Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to use a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP-series main sensor, paired with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
Leica branding is also expected to remain part of the imaging system. That would keep Xiaomi’s flagship camera identity intact while adding a higher-resolution main sensor and more versatile zoom hardware.
Other flagship-grade hardware
Beyond battery and camera, the rest of the specification sheet also points to a premium device. The phone is expected to use a 1.5K LTPO display with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with dual symmetrical speakers, advanced water resistance, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
Performance is also likely to sit at the top end of the market. The Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, combined with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
Taken together, the Xiaomi 17 Max looks designed to expand the Xiaomi 17 family without losing the premium identity that defines the series. Its large display, massive battery, high-resolution camera setup, and fast charging support make it one of the most distinctive models in the lineup.
