Mary McCormack has stepped in as co-host of the National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C., after Joe Mantegna said he could not attend in person. She will now join Gary Sinise in leading the PBS broadcast on Sunday.

Mantegna explained that “due to unforeseen circumstances” he must remain in Los Angeles. He added that he still looks forward to watching the concert with millions of Americans and supporting the event in the future.

A familiar role changes hands

Mantegna has been closely associated with the National Memorial Day Concert, which honors fallen service members, recognizes military families, and pays tribute to those who have served. In his statement, he said the concert’s mission is “something I will always hold close to my heart.”

Mary McCormack’s addition keeps the hosting lineup anchored by Sinise, who has long been connected to the event as one of its best-known supporters. The program remains one of PBS’s major Memorial Day observances and continues to focus on remembrance and gratitude.

Who is expected to appear

The concert is also expected to feature Noah Wyle, Melissa Leo, Jonathan Banks, and Alan Jackson. Their participation adds to a lineup that blends acting, music, and public tributes centered on military service.

Mantegna’s absence changes the event’s onstage hosting arrangement, but not its core purpose. The concert will still move forward with the same focus on honoring sacrifice, family service, and the memory of those who died while serving the country.
