The Mariners and Orioles meet Wednesday with both the three-game set and the season series still hanging in the balance. Seattle has the chance to finish the matchup on its own field, where Bryan Woo is set to get the ball and where his numbers have been much stronger.
Woo’s home and road splits have been stark this season, with better results in nearly every major statistical category at T-Mobile Park. His Seattle FIP sits at 2.07, compared with 4.28 everywhere else, which gives the Mariners reason to hope the home environment helps again after Baltimore tagged him for seven runs in his last start there a week ago.
The Orioles will counter with right-hander Shane Baz, who did not face Seattle in the four-game series between the clubs last week. That keeps the matchup fresh, even as the two teams close out a set that has already seen enough offense and pitching swings to leave Wednesday with real weight.
Seattle’s lineup has several moving parts
Josh Naylor is back after missing a couple of games with a wrist issue, though he will be watched closely to see how he responds. Mitch Garver is catching, while Cal Raleigh is serving as the designated hitter in his third game back from the injured list.
Julio Rodríguez is resting after leaving last night’s game with a hamstring spasm, but he could still be available off the bench. He was active during pregame work, which gives Seattle at least some hope he can factor into the game if needed.
Luke Raley is away from the team with the flu after also dealing with back tightness, and he is expected back at the ballpark tomorrow. Cooper Criswell also remains out after receiving a PRP injection today, and he is expected to need 2-3 weeks before he can begin building back toward a return.
