Central Florida is dealing with a summer pattern that feels out of sync with the calendar. The heat is in place, but the usual afternoon storm relief has been hard to find.
Tuesday is expected to bring another scorching afternoon across the region, with highs in the mid-to-upper 90s. The heat index could climb into the 100-105 range at times, making it feel even hotter.
Storm chances stay limited for now
Cooling thunderstorms are expected to remain scarce on Tuesday, with rain chances around 20%. That leaves much of the region under long stretches of hot, dry weather during the middle of the day.
According to www.clickorlando.com, the dry pattern is tied to an upper-level high-pressure system that has been driving both the intense heat and the unusually low rain chances.
Some relief may build late in the week
By the end of the work week, rain chances are expected to rise gradually as that high-pressure system starts to break down. That should allow more afternoon storms to develop and bring at least some relief from the heat.
That break may not last long. A new area of high pressure is expected to build again for the weekend, which would lower rain chances and help temperatures climb once more.
The pattern leaves Central Florida stuck between short-lived relief and another round of intense summer heat. For now, the most noticeable change remains the lack of rain during a season when afternoon storms usually play a bigger role.
