Joy Behar says the wobble viewers sometimes notice on The View has a medical explanation, not a drinking one. The 83-year-old cohost told the ABC panel on Monday, July 6, that she has been dizzy and recently got acupuncture to help with it.
“I got acupuncture, because I’m dizzy,” Behar said on the show. “I walk and I’m dizzy. Has anyone noticed, I walk like I’m drunk? I’m not drinking. I don’t drink.”
Her comment came after cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin joked that Behar is sometimes escorted to her seat. Behar laughed off the moment and blamed her latest wellness treatment for the unsteady appearance.
“Between the Botox, the Ozempic and the acupuncture, I’m, like, full of needles, more than a drug addict,” she said.
Why Behar Was On The Panel Monday
Behar was not originally scheduled for Monday’s episode. She usually appears on The View from Tuesday through Friday, but she stepped in after weather-related travel disruptions left the panel short on regular hosts.
Those disruptions sidelined Ana Navarro, Sara Haines and Whoopi Goldberg, leaving executive producer Brian Teta to fill out the table with guests and substitutes. Michelle Buteau, who had been booked as a guest, ended up joining the panel for the full episode alongside Sunny Hostin and Griffin.

Goldberg appeared by video from Italy and said Mount Etna’s latest eruption had slowed her return to New York. “I am in Sicily right now, and Mount Etna, which is one of our active volcanoes here in Italy, decided to go off today,” she said.
She added that the airports were closed and that she would return to the United States as soon as possible. Behar, meanwhile, recently came back from her own European trip after spending a few weeks in June in Paris and London performing her stage play, My First Ex-Husband.
During Behar’s absence from the show, guest cohosts have included Sheryl Underwood and Kara Swisher. USA TODAY reported that Behar’s explanation came during the Monday episode as she addressed the way she has been walking on the ABC talk show.
