Landman Season 3 Is Already Moving Forward, and the Stakes Keep Rising

Landman is not slowing down after its strong Season 2 launch. The Billy Bob Thornton-led drama has already been renewed for Season 3, fueled by more than 9.2 million views in its first two days.

That early momentum keeps Taylor Sheridan’s latest Paramount+ success in the spotlight, while Season 2’s ending leaves Tommy Norris facing a bigger, riskier game than ever. The story now centers on a new business, family pressure, and the danger that comes with both.

What Season 2 left behind

Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton, lost his role as president of Cami Miller’s M-Tex Oil and started his own company, CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle. The twist is that the new venture is backed by drug kingpin Gallino, played by Andy Garcia.

Gallino made the threat plain: if Tommy’s oil business fails, Tommy’s family will pay the price. That adds a criminal edge to a show that still keeps its family conflicts front and center.

When Season 3 should start taking shape

No release date has been set for Season 3 yet, but filming is slated to begin in August. Fort Worth is expected to remain a filming location, just as it has for past seasons.

Sheridan has continued to build his North Texas production footprint with projects including Landman, Dutton Ranch and the unreleased Frisco King. He has also invested in the region with a 450,000-square-foot production hub in Fort Worth.

Who is expected back

Thornton has said he will return as Tommy, and Sam Elliott is expected to come back as Tommy’s father for at least the next season. Ali Larter, who plays Angela Norris, is also expected to return, and Deadline reported that her salary may rise to more than $350,000 per episode.

The same report said Demi Moore could be paid $740,000 to $770,000 per episode. That would keep the ensemble among the most closely watched parts of the show as it moves toward another season.

What Season 3 could explore

No plot details have been officially announced, but Season 2 sets up several obvious pressure points. Tommy’s new oil venture must succeed if he wants to protect his family and keep the business alive.

Cami is unlikely to welcome her former company president starting a rival operation, especially one built on the kind of threats that now surround CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle. For now, viewers can stream Seasons 1 and 2 on Paramount+ while the next chapter takes shape.
