Trump Signs Bill Ordering Release of Jeffrey Epstein Files
Former President Donald Trump has signed legislation directing the release of confidential documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. The bill, passed overwhelmingly by the House with a 427-1 vote and receiving unanimous consent in the Senate, aims to increase transparency around Epstein’s controversial estate.
Trump made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, accusing Democrats of using the Epstein files to distract from his administration’s accomplishments. He suggested that the files may reveal connections between Democrats and Epstein.
The new bill mandates the release of the remaining Epstein documents. However, certain parts may still be withheld for privacy reasons or ongoing investigations. Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, a co-sponsor of the bill, expressed concerns about the possibility of files being withheld under the guise of new investigations.
Previously, about 20,000 pages of Epstein-related documents were made public, including messages from Epstein himself. These messages contained statements targeting Trump, such as "I am the one able to take him down" and "I know how dirty Donald is."
Trump has publicly denied any wrongdoing or inappropriate association with Epstein. He claimed their friendship ended in the early 2000s, several years before Epstein’s first arrest. In a recent statement to reporters, Trump emphasized that Republicans had no connections with Epstein, calling it "really a Democrat problem."
