Miss Guadeloupe Leads Decisively Ahead of Miss France in Final Ranking Results

Miss Guadeloupe significantly outperformed Miss France in the final results of the Miss Universe competition held recently in Thailand. Ophély Mézino, representing Guadeloupe, advanced to the top 12, while Eve Gilles, Miss France 2024, reached only the top 30 among over 138 contestants.

Miss France’s participation was marked by an elegant tribute to Joan of Arc during her presentation. The Miss France Committee praised Eve Gilles for her bold and determined performance. However, Ophély Mézino, the 26-year-old first runner-up of Miss France 2019, achieved a more remarkable ranking, surpassing Miss France by a considerable margin.

Other contestants from French territories, including representatives from Mayotte and Martinique, did not make it to the top 30. Despite not advancing further, Ophély Mézino’s placement in the top 12 placed her ahead of many strong contenders from diverse countries. The crown was ultimately awarded to Fatima Bosch of Mexico, who triumphed amid criticism during the pageant.

The final top placements featured contestants from Thailand, the Philippines, Venezuela, Côte d’Ivoire, and Mexico, highlighting the global competitiveness of the event. Ophély Mézino expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support she received, calling her home “a beautiful island” and acknowledging the historic nature of her performance.

Reactions from former Miss France winners highlighted the achievements of both French representatives. Flora Coquerel, Miss France 2014, complimented Ophély Mézino for her flawless execution. Meanwhile, Eve Gilles received encouragement from Amandine Petit, Miss France 2021, and Indira Ampiot, Miss France 2023.

The event’s conclusion shifts attention toward the upcoming Miss France 2026 pageant, scheduled for early December. This ongoing cycle continues to showcase France’s commitment to excellence in international beauty competitions.
