Pop Band Blue, Julian Marley Confirmed for Me’gong Festival Lineup: Full Details

The Me’gong Festival in Tura has expanded its lineup with two major international artists: British pop-R&B boy band Blue and Grammy-nominated reggae artist Julian Marley, son of Bob Marley. These additions enhance an already star-studded roster including Richard Marx and electronic duo Yellow Claw.

Scheduled for early December, the festival showcases a diverse blend of global and Indian talent. Bollywood singers Kanika Kapoor and Neeti Mohan will represent contemporary Indian music alongside homegrown acts like Rough Road and Hoi Hoi Makbil. Organizers emphasize the fusion of international rhythms with the unique Garo heritage.

According to festival officials, this edition represents one of the most globally curated and diverse lineups in Me’gong’s history. They aim to spotlight Meghalaya’s cultural richness while promoting indigenous artists and creative livelihoods. “The festival aligns with Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma’s vision of making Me’gong a pillar of the state’s cultural economy,” an official stated.

The festival drew over 300,000 visitors last year, solidifying Garo Hills as a prominent cultural and tourism destination. Beyond music, Me’gong offers a full cultural immersion with traditional Garo cuisine, crafts, weaving, and bamboo workshops. Community-led sustainability efforts include zero-plastic policies and waste management practices.

Me’gong’s integration of international stars and local flavors highlights its growing reputation as a vibrant celebration of music and heritage. This strategic approach seeks to boost tourism while fostering respect for local traditions and the environment. As the festival continues to evolve, it remains a platform where global and indigenous cultures harmoniously coexist.
