Mohamed Sends Message to América Ahead of Crucial Final Against Toluca

Mohamed Sends Message to Americanismo Ahead of Toluca Final Against Tigres

Antonio Mohamed prepares for a significant final match against Tigres, a replay of a duel he experienced 11 years ago with América. The coach, now leading Toluca, reflected on the tough times during his previous final, emphasizing that this time he feels fully supported by the club’s leadership.

He recalled that during the 2014 Apertura final with América, his relationship with the directors was strained. Mohamed explained, “Back then, we were alone and struggling; now I’m very well accompanied.” He underscored that the players carried that past team through to the final despite difficulties.

Mohamed highlighted the confidence he has in his current Toluca squad to achieve the coveted bicampeonato. Securing this title would mark his fifth Liga MX championship, putting him alongside coaching legends like Manuel Lapuente and Víctor Manuel Vucetich.

“The team is accustomed to playing finals. I feel deeply represented by this group,” Mohamed stated. He stressed his role is to provide tools and encourage bravery to execute their game plan successfully.

Although Mohamed admitted the team is not perfect yet, he stressed the desire to culminate the season with a championship. He mentioned missing out on the Leagues Cup but praised the team’s overall performance this year.

Toluca faces a stern test in Tigres, whom Mohamed describes as a complex adversary with strong bench depth and the tactical knowledge of their new coach, Guido Pizarro. “Guido is a novice coach but well-prepared and dangerous. We know they will be a tough opponent,” Mohamed said.

Mohamed remains optimistic about his team’s capacity to overcome challenges after a stellar season featuring two top positions and leading goal scorers. His message to Americanismo is clear: the current environment is positive and focused, a stark contrast to the past, fostering hope for a successful outcome in this final.
